Kids are great, Appu. You can teach them to hate the things you hate and they practically raise themselves now-a-days, you know, with the internet and all

Hence, it's a debateable topic.

Your right . . . . people debate Creationism vs Darwin, and whether or not we landed on the moon or not, and there are probably some people that still think the earth is flat.

The fact is that Google has stated that they are filtering, if people want to debate that fact, fine. But personally, if they tell me they are doing it, I am going to believe it.

Of course, we tested the theory ourselves, and it turned out they were right. But I am sure you will find someone that will say it was purely coincidental.

Where did google state this?

I don't disagree- but, arranging for multiple class c's isn't the first thing to be addressed when you are starting to try for se traffic.

As we have stated here many times.. be careful who you take SE advice from..

Baddog comes here after his filters are triggered by Boardtracker..

- posts a so-called "fact",
- then supports that fact with an article written by his "employee",
- for a site that he owns,
- and then posts that he has the solution to the so-called "problem"
- and the solution is a "product" that directly makes him money..

........

Bill is correct... it is still debatable.. and Google NEVER posts facts about the results it returns..
You will only see opinions posted as to what people think is true..

........

Baddog is "quoting" a reference that is VERY SPECIFIC for a VERY SPECIFIC purpose and nothing to do with the question asked..

Referenced page - Google Web APIs Reference - http://www.google.com/apis/reference.html

#1. It is only to do with use of Googles API

Subsection - 2.3 Automatic Filtering - http://www.google.com/apis/reference.html#2_3

#2 It is only to do with automatic filtering when using Google's API

Paragraph - When enabled, filtering takes the following actions: - http://www.google.com/apis/reference.html#2_3

#3 It only happens when the filter is applied to Google's API

... therefore it is TOTALLY irrelevant to the question asked, and manipulated as a scare tactic to promote a product.

There are very few facts known about Google and the way it ranks results... but there are 100s of "companies" that will tell you they know things, because it makes them money.

The same rules alway apply...

Build content rich sites - (text not pictures)
Don't try to use "secret" techniques to build your ranking.
Be relevant
Link relevantly
Link normally

It is that simple..

Been doing this for years and it has worked very well.

I've also played around with IPs and saw no affect either way god or bad at all.

Glad we see someone step in to resolve the situation a bit. Makes a lot more sense now and my original hunches seemed about right.

And I wasn't talking about just pictures - I was talking about text - If you are a good webmaster you will take the time to write different things on each freesite/gallery. Its better for SEs and avoids the risk of been penalized for duplicate content which is possibly increased if you have your sites on the same IP or nameserver.

Well I feel I've learnt a little from this debate as I have been asking about this sort of thing in other forums. Thanks for summing it up DangerDave

Just to clarify:

1. Yes, I use BoardTracker. BFD. There is too much to do, and too many boards for me to monitor all discussions.

2. The only fact I posted was there is a host crowding penalty. You don't want to accept it as fact, that is your choice.

3. goodgirl is not my employee. She has been a full time SEO for over 7 years . . . I have only known of her for 4 and only became business partners with her about 2 years ago..

4. Yes, we own a company that will eliminate the host crowding penalty, and yes, it will make us money, but not nearly as much as it will make the user.
