Link Lists - Why Just Free Sites?

Why do most link lists only have free sites? Why not have links to TGPs and MGP as well? Just Curious.

There are LL's that take all these. Personally I like to concentrate on freesites.

My view is:
LL's -> freesites
TGP's -> galleries

I could list sites about mint tea but you have to draw the line somewhere.

I am not sure what you ment but if you mean having links to other tgps then

I use to have a section for tgps and other link lists
but everybody was just submiting their hosted gallery hubs

and its VERY HARD to keep coming up with original reviews for tgps and LL's

if you mean to gallerys I dont see any thing wrong with ll's linking to gallerys
but some webmasters feel that you arent a real link site if you link to gallerys
and linking to gallerys makes your site a tgp

if you follow that thinking ....google links to gallerys should google be reclasified as a tgp ??

remember back in like 97 all the link site owners use to try and link to open directorys
they didnt have warning pages

I've been considering accepting free sites from select submitters to my TGP. I'm just unsure of how my traffic would deal with it. Tommy's traffic is trained to deal with both and know what to expect. I wonder how my TGP surfer's would react to occassionally hitting warning pages instead. My thought is that as long as the sites are clean and easy to navigate, it wouldn't much of an issue.

UW try adding a few hosted free sites

and somewhere on the page ask for comments and suggestions and see if you get any complaints

the internet is always been mixed like that I dont see why tgps and link sites shouldnt be

That's a damn fine idea Tommy. I get so caught up in the 'what ifs' that I don't consider the obvious things to try. But that's why you are who you are, and I'm this little guy down here.

last week I read in a thread some small link list owner was considering taking gallerys but was worried about what other LL owners would think

There are a lot of restaurants that do not serve alcohol that do very well - plus it keeps out the riff-raff drunks

(sorta like Link Lists keep out the riff-raff gallery surfers)

Right now I have a hub which is a fake TGP and has my free sites listed on it. I was thinking of making a link list or directory to house my free sites separate from the TGP.

So I was noodling over of the directory structures you see on places like Hoes.com, Link-o-rama.com and others. It has premium/pay/avs sites and then links to free sites. Now not all are structured this way but many. I was then thinking, what would stop you from having another section that said "Links to Picture Galleries" and "Links to Movie Galleries".

This might take on more importance in the new world of 2257. If existing Free Sites disappear and new ones come on line less regularly then the path to new content might be to use vendor free hosted gallys to fill out the pages. Just a thought.

I add galleries in my video section but that's it. It has the most traffic and I like to keep the surfers happy. And make money

My LL is such a weird morphed conglomerate (thanks GG, you enriched my english ) and my biggest problems are that gallery makers:

- do not read rules
- always pick up wrong categories
- do not know what that "title" form field mean
- use autosubmitters far more often then FS makers

The result is that I like to review free sites, but hate to review galleries.

I would do that too...I just don't want to get into having to review 1000 gallery submissions a day.

if you are running a successful linklist there is no real reason to pollute it with tgp traffic and submitters!!!

There have been a lot of LLs that also use galleries - besides the obvious Tommys, PK added in galleries (not mixed but on the same site) RR has had galleries for some time, and if you hunt around Greenies you will probably find some galleries (I know where they are )
and I know that DDave and my site do it as well.

I think the real question should be - is the mixing of free sites and galleries in the same categories like Tommy does a good model or does it "pollute" the LL?


I think that with trusted submitters only - using galleries in the LL cats is very reasonable and with the advent of hosted galleries makes loads of sense - I also know of TGPs out there that do link to free sites as well - pornstarfinder comes to mind and I had originally done it on pornstarstgp - I dont think there is anything wrong with mixing the two and definitely gives some nice variety - however -
I would never open my LL to public gallery submits without some sort of pass/trusted status. Hell I already get a hundred or so galleries a day when I dont even take them publicly - I can imagine the size of the database if I opened it up.

well if you think about it from a tgp point of view

on a tgp that just lists gallerys when the tgp links to a trade lwith a warning page
the surfer thinks something is wrong and may hit the back button right away

but if they seen warning pages regulary their trades would be more productive

We've always accepted links to all types of adult sites, not just the typical free site. We'll change your category if we need to. For instance, a fake TGP is an adult directory, not a TGP.
