Why would you as a submitter/freesite/gallery builder post that info? 2257 doesn't require that. What PM says is that sponsors who purchase his content can't distribute IDs to affiliates.

Paul made a post on the board early this morning, I'd guess is says about the same things as the email. The gist that I got after reading it was that, except for a select group of specificed content, model ID's could not be passed on to affiliates. That should have no effect on building free sites and galleries, since you don't post the model ID's, just keep them in your files.

As far as my severely handi-capped knowledge goes on this issue is that we only need the IDs for our records. We wouldn't have to publish them to the worldwideassfuck.

No, I don't think that's it. I think the fact that the first third of the statement doesn't express whether he's talking about content out of his stores, content he gives to his own paysite affiliates, or content purchased by sponsors. I would think if the US government were to clarify its new law a little better there would be less instance of non compliance to come. And less argument about its interpretations. And less need for lawyers to assist. Seems pretty irresponsible for such a beacon of responsible government. scuse my interuption.

Ramster is right, you will get the proper documents when you buy their content, but sponsors that use their content for "free content" can't pass out the IDs to affiliates

True, very true.

But one of the points of the whole exercise to is cause confusion, sow discord, and scare the bejezzuz out of law abiding people because the current regime don't like constitutionally protected expression (porn).

the way I understand it is if we buy content we are not aloud to post the models personal info on the web even if the doj says so.. and it sounds like he is talking to sponsors and content buyers..

I am just gonna keep doing what I am doing because I dont think the new regs will pass or if they do will be tied up for years and thats enough time to get everything in order..

plateman - the new (and the old) regs dont require you to post the models info on the web - only to keep a copy in your files at your biz location - the only private info you have to post on the web is your own address and contact hours

And that's the rub. The Regs are the way in which 2257 will be administered. As such, they don't need to be "passed", the US AG publishes them in the Federal Register and 30 days later the regs take effect.

The new regs were published last month and currently take effect on 23rd June.
