What's your take on psychics?

All smoke and mirrors. Ever hear of a guy in the UK called Derren Brown? To watch him you'd think he had 'the gift' but he goes on to say that all psychics are a sham, and lays into them for building up people's hopes, and preying on the weak.

This is the guy who rang a phone box that was being filmed, answered by various passers-by, spoke to them and made them collapse - all through the telephone. Completely random people. How'd he do that? He's an extremely gifted - not 'has the gift' psychologist I guess you could call him, he knows exactly how to make certain people do whatever he tells them. It's fucking freaky lol.

He explained a little of why the phone-box trick worked - people who would answer a random phone while about their daily business suggests they are more open to mental persuasion.

I'll see if I can find a couple links, and if you ever get a chance to see his shows - they will blow you away!

And I agree with Sparky on those predictions - too broad, too heavily weighted already in favour of what he 'predicted'.

I honestly think some, but very few, are true. I think some people are gifted with this ability, but most that say they are, are not. I could make 500 predictions a day, and if 1 or 2 come true, and I only mention those 1 or 2, does that make me psychic? Naw...

Not exactly the same, but I hear you can murder someone over the phone if you hook up a tesla coil, call them, and flip on the tesla.

Got that from the anarchist cookbook yeeeeeeeeeears ago, thought it was interesting, wonder if its true... but who the hell has an extra tesla coil laying around?
