IMO... this suggests that the "blowing off" strategy is not necessarily a good idea...

"We will do whatever is necessary within the law to

stop the unauthorized use of our technology," said Acacia vice president Robert Berman, who said they would move likewise against others who haven't responded to the July 16 injunction. "It is not fair for our licensees that are paying royalties for us to allow others to continue to use our technologies for free."

So, the big companies can use their technologies, just the porn ones cant.

But, is it still legal to hijack the domain from the registrar?

Seeing that the courts appear to be leaning towards "domains as property" as opposed to "domains as service" (see SEX.COM vs NSI rulings), I am wondering if the courts would permit this type of seizure of property. I understand that an injunction could force an ISP to shut a site down, but I am not sure that a registrar can suspend a domain in this manner.

However, I don't have all the facts in front of me, so who knows, right?

I would love to hear your "opinion" on that FAR-L, do you see that being something Acacia will continue to be able to do moving into the future?

Extreme John: I am not an attorney and I don't want to really speculate at all on legal matters and court decisions...

All I know are the facts.

Lace did not show up and explain themselves when they were supposed to. The court gave a default judgement to Acacia.
Acacia got an injunction and the hosting company had to deal with it as a result.

Knowing that is the result for companies that are blowing this off, I am asking myself, what else matters?
