30 years ago, the political climate was eerily similar to ours today. This documentary really shows how history repeats itself .
"Deep throat" the movie was banned by the goverment's "war on obsenity".
Deep throat was made in 6 days and grossed over 600 million dollars, it introduced Porn Chic and instigated the boom of the adult industry. There's things about this movie that the mainstream studios never wanted you to know!!!

You'll watch with your mouth open wide for more than the obvious reasons.

You can rent it from Netflix, but I'll bet you that the FarRight C.Conservatives best buttbuddy, Wel mart, won't have this one. It's NC17 and the graphic sex isn't the most offensive part, it's the prosecution of an artist, complete disregard for freedom of speech and our corrupt government forwarding the right wing agenda.

The biggest difference these days is that they are fighting against a much more spread out target, a target that honestly can clibm into europe out of reach of american authorities. Considering that obscenity in the US is defined by "community standards", it will be very interesting to see how they define the "community of the internet". Considering that almost every single sexual fetish in the universe has been online at lease 5 years, my feeling is that the community of the internet has already long since decided to be very tolerant and accepting.

New 2257, obscenity police... it is all steps to make it hard to impossible for "small fry" porn operations to exist. Driving out the mom-and-pop operators, replacing them with a strictly regulated and tightly defined little group of companies that the goverment can crack down on and influence directly.

Too bad for them! The current level of video camera, internet connection, and such allows for even total morons to produce passable porn movies, and to distribute them without any government oversight. Push it underground and the underground will get really, really big...

Plus, pushing it all underground will probably cut down on the "average" porn, and make the more extreme, more likely obscene material to be the major content out there.

Torn, Linda Lovelace died in a car accident in 2002. I remember that headline. I believe she was a thumper but the documentary said she did Legshow magazine not too many years ago.

I have never actually seen the Deep Throat movie. They showed portions of it on the doc, it did not look like she was being r ap ed. Has anyone else seen it?

GenXer, well.. this Deepthroat movie and the Deepthroat that you are talking about are different. The source that Woodward and Bernstein used in the Watergate scandal was nicknamed Deepthroat (same time frame as the movie).

I actually think it's a huge deal that the source (Deepthroat) was revealed and put an end to a 30 year old mystery. Proceeds or not, Woodward and Berstein already had the book written ready to go to print in anticipation of him revealing his identity. They, politely agreed to let his book go out first. The man helped bring down one of the biggest scandals in our Country's history. His family and his children kept that secret along with him. He was living in a converted garage, so if he and his kids get some money for the story, so be it.

Right now the payoff for a pic of Brad and Angelina together is half a million dollars. This story should be worth a hundred times that, because it's actually relevant.

|cool| I saw DeepThroat the movie.. $10.00 at the 47th street theatre.. i think i was 17 and had to sneak in with my friends..

boring.. but I guess it was really ground breaking..

Now Caligula that was a different story.. it took me 5 attempts to watch it through.. finally my friends Neal and Charlene forced me to watch it.. I LOVED the 'Fuck room" scene with the live friezes. I've since rented it a few times.. but it doesn't translate nearly as well on a small screen as it did in full technocolor... especially with all the guys jacking off behind me..

The film was not a X or a porn movie when it was filmed, so O'toole and McDowell did not film a porn movie, after a lot of director and $ issues during and after filming good old Bob bought it and added the hardcore sex scenes and a few other scenes.

Caligula took 4 + years to film with all the issues.

yeah i saw the extended version a few years later.. but even so the original was pretty graphic...
