Seems I have another new kitten
My Asian friend Talia has a stray cat in her neighborhood that gave birth to a litter of kittens. We have been catching the kittens one by one and are going to get the stray fixed as soon as we catch all the kittens.
My neighbor has the first one we caught and now it seems that I've ended up with the second. Two or three more to go. Didn't really want another cat since I have three counting the one I got after hurricane Katrina and was named after that hurricane but I just couldn't say no so know I guess I've got four cats. The big male on the right is Iggy who I raised from a baby and is now about six years old. Haven't picked a name for her yet. Talia who is a Pagan wants to give her a spiritual name so I guess I'm going to end up with a Pagan cat. Damn, I'm still waiting for Katrina to get old enough to get fixed and she still is young enough that she doesn't let me sleep in the morning and now I'm going to raise another. At least I don't have dogs. Oh wait, Talia wants to bring all five of her dogs over next week when she comes to visit. Actually since all five of her dogs together weigh less then 15 pounds I'm not sure if they are really five dogs or just one dog with five bodies. |

My sweetie and I went to the animal shelter this past monday, and ended up getting two 9 month old cats that were going to be euthanized that night.
I haven't submitted anything all week because these two little rampscalions have been so much fun and not a little bit of work. They're beautiful, incredibly sweet natured cats, but they were strays for most of their existence, so they tend to be a bit spooked. The first days I was like "holy shit, what the fuck have I gotten myself into...", but now that they are settling in, and I'm getting to be glad they are here. So I have some idea of what you are going thru. ;-} |

Bill good to see you doing that, if you haven’t done so already I highly suggest cat nip and raw tuna, try to use it to lure them to you and hand feed them etc, make them realize you are their friend while they are still at this age it will be tough to do it if they get any older.
BTW where are the pics? |

Bill, I would also add that if you have a turkey for the holidays to give them the carcass.
My folks can have any where from 2-24 barn cats at a time. And even the most cautious, scarred and skittish will start allowing them to pet them after my folks leave any of the bones out. Of course, no one else is allowed to pet them. |

Took a pic this morning as I was feeding my other two cats and the new kitten.
The small black one is Katrina, big black one is George. George was another rescue and was about four months old when I got him about eight years ago. Iggy wasn't around this morning so he missed out on breakfast. I have cat doors so my cats come and go as they please which is always a bit of a problem when I get a new kitten but usually the kittens don't discover the cat doors for a few months. |

Hey Cleo
The little one should be named "Popup" Lays there on your lap like it's on valium, lulls you into complacency, then when you're not expecting it takes off like a bat out of hell |

Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

What sweeties!
Catamanga is nearing 15 and needs a fair amount of my attention due to a medical condition so I do not want to get a kitten anytime soon. Nice to see others with them though. http://www.seska.com/Pics/cat.jpg

Cute kitten.
My wife and I took in a stray cat almost 2 years ago. Then the damn thing had 3 kittens. We gave 2 away and kept one so now we have 2 cats. The original stray mother does Not get along with the kitten at all or any cats for that matter. |

I've bookmarked it and am going to share it with my friend Talia. I'm suppose to go over there this afternoon to help her catch the other kittens this afternoon. One of the kittens must have somehow hitched a ride on the outside of Talia's car yesterday and is now running around my neighbor's house so we are also trying to catch that one now. |

Around 5 or 6 years ago, a little grey friggin' furball wandered into our yard and my daughter, 5 or so at the time, decided that she had to have it eventhough we already had one cat and one dog back then. I didn't want it. One way or another, we ended up with it. She named it "Little John Girl Cat" because it was female and she had already starting calling it Little John. I renamed it Rinpoche, after a Buddhist monk. (I think you can tell that I'm a very spiritual person Rinphoche, the monk, is a man, btw.) Anyway, we've called her Poshie ever since. I think she's bulimic. She vomits almost every day and eats a ton. http://www.maladaptedmedia.com/image...ng-furball.jpg

feeling a bit better

A little advice to any NEW cat/kitten owners:
1. Never feed them human food. They won't want to eat cat food so much and the medical bill for the impending health problem will make you regret giving the creature human food in the first place. 2. Decide on fixing your cat. Make the decision as soon as possible. It will be relatively gut wrenching but best for the little furry bundle of joy in the long run. My vet said anytime between 4-6 months is best. 3. Indoor or Outdoor - but not both. If you decide to keep your cat inside, never let her go outside and vice versa. With the possibility of fleas and other toxic agents that they WILL find and consume, lets just say that an ounce of prevention is more than worth the pound of cure. 4. Regular vet visits - this is a must if you intend to keep them healthy (or keep them at all!) and purring. I would also look into getting your cat on a medical plan BEFORE he/she gets sick, because once it gets sick, forget the health plan - its just too expensive. 5. NO FISH! Believe it or not, fish is like poison to a cat and if you love your cat don't give it ANY fish. My vet told me that ANY kind of fish for a cat is deadly. Just cause they love the smell and taste does not neccessarily make it healthy. Apparently, the iodine levels in the fish along with any trace amount of mercury or other not so nice chemicals and what have you are DEADLY! So, be forewarned. 6. Change the Litter EVERYDAY. This is just plain common sense. 7. No milk after 6 months of age, no matter what. 8. A hungry cat is a healthy cat! Give your cat its required portion. No more, no less. This way you can assure that she grows healthy and strong with minimal health problems. Over eating is just asking for trouble. Hope any or all of this advice helps.
