Blogger deletes blogs w/ sexual explicit content?

Is it true? Several guys said me that their blogger.com accounts were deleted without any warnings.
I'm not so sure if I want to start a new blog there. What you think?

I think you have to ask yourself why do you want to start a blog in the first place. For business or hobby. For me a blog is a marketing tool worth having but for business purposes I would never recommend free hosting. Isn't that what blogger is? I say if one wants to start a blog or any other kind of site for marketing adult products get your own host and park your blog or site on your own domain, this way YOU are in control over your content and not your free host. That's my .02 on it.

Yup, it's right, but their is a nuance to be made.
As you said blogs with 'sexual explicit content' is a no no on blogger. But if you just like to tell adventures which you had with your latest girlfriend or blog about your erotic fantasies then you can just go with blogger.

If you want to post adult content on your blog (i mean pictures) then you might want to consider thumblogger:
http://www.thumblogger.com
Adult content is allowed there and it's over 1 year in business and used by a lot of happy adult webmasters. Since about a month it has the 'blogger' effect, which means search engine traffic within one day.
Do your searches on several boards to confirm my story.

And if you decide to go with your own hosting then you can still use thumblogger, for example to feed your main blog, great for outgoing and incoming links, PR en search engine traffic.

I didn't get deleted but blacklisted which is not really better.

Anyway the wordpress structure is better for seo so get yourself a (sub)domain and install wordpress (2 minutes) it's really worth it

When I started my fist blog I had not idea what blogs were and why blogger.com was not the best choice. Now I have blogs on my own domains and hosts but my fist blog is still on blogger.com and brings me $500 a month. I'm just afraid to lose it one day.
What would you recommend to do now?

The exact reason I dont like trading with blogs on blogger or other free non-adult blog hosting services. As mentioned, I sure have never understood why so many people use those services. Blog software can be gotten for free, hosting does'nt cost that much. Why would any one want to spend all that time and energy on blogs, that you have no control over if they dont like it, where your blog could all be gone tomorrow, sure dont make sense to me.

Yeah, IF it's a fear of installing a script that keeps webmasters who might be serious about using blogs as a marketing tool (agree with everything b3achbum and others have said), then DON'T BE! Again, Wordpress for one is nearly retard-proof to install, and it honestly does only take 2 minutes to do, even for the script installing newbies.

Hosting it yourself (along with frequent posts) sends the message to other webmasters (potential trades) that you're serious, and won't have to worry about the freehost's rules and deletion. I mean, even if you DO find a blog hosting service that allows explicit posts, what's to say in 6 months they don't pull a PayPal and change their minds... *AXE CHOP*! .02

Most of them do that because being a subdomain of a very powerfull domain makes your SEO easier
Don't tell them but that only works on a limited number of subdomains

I still alot of sites doing trades with blogs on free blog hosting services though, so must not be to important. Or as said, maybe it's the SEO thing.

I would never put a money generating site on free hosting. I do wonder though, can't you somehow download your db from blogger? If you're not getting massive traffic to your site, it might be worth it to move the content, close the blogger site and wait for everything to be re-indexed.

This might be a real dumb question, but is bloggspot also blogger, or are they different? Bloggspot is the one I see used the most. I never really checked into the free blogging services, wanted to have my blogs on my own hosting.

Blogspot, Blogger, Blogdrive, there's loads of em out there ronnie... all different sites, but the same principle

Tigermom - I looked into that for a webgirl friend running on BlogDrive, trying to get her to move to wordpress installed on her site domain... BlogDrive lets you make backups of the whole db, but it's in some whack proprietary format. In theory if you could get the data to export into a workable format, it *should* be possible to do a little modifications to that format for import into something else (matching up the database tablenames, fields, etc.) but it'd be a pain in the ass. If it's a blog that hasn't been up for too awful long, copy/paste each entry might be faster.

Maybe some WP / PHP guru should write a converter plugin to be able to import and convert some of the more popular freebloghost backup formats. I'm not keen enough for that project though!

Every blog has its rss or atom feeds. So with a simple php parser, it only takes minutes to get the data loaded on you server.

Hell even I might be able to accomplish something like that! haha (and i'm using wordpress only as an example because it's what I use and recommend). I'm thinking some simple framework that pulls the RSS entries into an array, and then INSERT into wordpress db where $arrayitemX = matching_wordpress_field ?? (as a most basic concept)

I'm no php/mysql/rss "guru" by any standard; know enough to be dangerous... I'll doublecheck the codex again too, but i'm positive I didn't see any plugins like this out there yet. Plenty of aggregators, yeah (but simply display an external feed, not actually import it into WP).

Of course I may be way off base lol I'll fucker around with it sometime, as if I don't have enough on my plate already! (and profound apologies for straying way the hell off topic...)

Blogspot is free hosting for blogger users. You can use blogger and host it yourself instead of having a "blogspot".

Many people use it for SEO/PR purposes and/or for feeding another blog.
You can get a number 1-3 position with a thumblogger within 1 or 2 days, of course not on a really popular keyword (that takes a bit longer).
Now imagine doing this 5 times and link all 5 blogs to your main blog. The result is quality SE traffic and nice incoming links (for PR).

Note: i'm twthumb, but couldn't login after the board upgrade at greenguysboard.com, so i have to start over again.
