subdomain.hosthead.com

Anyone know what the deal is with that? Getting some submits with the format 'wordhere.hosthead.com' as the nameservers, but they don't look to be a freehost, so I'm confused with the 'wordhere.' part - any experiences?

That's just how HostHead sets up their nameservers. But I know what you mean - looks sort of funky. Chop has a good relationship with them and they're nice folks over there - unless you accuse them of being a freehost. They most definately are not.

Hi Jel,

Chop just has his name servers setup as

ns1.chop.hosthead.com
ns2.chop.hosthead.com

It is all normal, he is just running his own name servers.. if you have any further questions feel free to contact me, and I will be happy to explain.

I mentioned Chop since he's a respected board member and that shows that you are therefore a reputable host. I don't know who in particular Jel is talking about. I believe he was simply wondering about HostHead's general subdomain.hosthead.com nameservers.

Gotcha.. and thank you for posting about it in the first place.

Many of our customers run their own name servers in the form of :

ns1.machinename.hosthead.com
ns2.machinename.hosthead.com

It is all legit, and a name server is a name server. Each one has it's own IP, and functions like any other name server such as ns1.domain.com would function.

Just want to clear that up so there are no issues with these customers submitting galleries, or what not.
