They have the Internet on computers, now?

Blogging and too much free content?
I came across a couple of blogs with whom I don't think I can ever compete! A post consisted of 20 galleries from the same site... all movies, all creampies. Don't you think this is going overboard a bit? I mean, who the hell will buy the membership...

I don't have to be careful. I got a gun

cellinis, those are probably some of those TGPs running on WP platform. If there are surfers that buy via TGPs, then I'd say there'll be surfers that will buy via those blogs too, but my humble opinion is they'll buy much less

personally i don't think it makes much of a difference if there is only one pic/gallery or a dozen on just one blog , the problem is alot deeper it lays at the oversaturation of free content ,i mean just take a look at the hun or any other tgp/link list where there is endless numbers of free shit for any perve to click and whack off to without having to buy
and there is lays the problem for you to advertise you need to promote what's inside, when you look at alot of other markets they use rewiews/articles/write ups/word of mouth/tv/radio, to promote what they are selling , however porn is a different thing most ppl that look at porn can't be fucked or don't want to read ,while you do get that % that do read over the reviews sites looking for sites to join up with , they are the ppl who are more savvy with there dollars every marketing person knows that your never going to get a huge % of ppl that buy , you are going to get a huge percent that are just there for for the free content and a small % that a willing to buy while it is true that you need to give the consumer a taste of what's inside keep them wanting more , which brings us back the oversaturation of advertising material ( re: gallleries ,tgps/link lists) if the industry is to change where there is less free content floating around , you need to look at how the movie studios promote the latest big hit , where the studio themself are soley behind releasing the previews/trailer for the movie , showing part of the story line and content just a taste of what lays within , which means that the big listings like "the hun" and other joints need to get scrapped or atleast change of formatting **note : only used the hun a reference as it was the first name that came to my mind, ... i guess that shows how much influence it has on the industry, good marketing of the name , easy to remember ** Last edited by biftek; 2006-04-21 at 09:52 PM.. |

If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.
We have to live with what is, cos the scrapping of free content ain't gonna happen this side of the next millenium. There will always be people who will pay for more. Porn is like any drug, it's addictive, people get used to what is and want better. We should concentrate on selling what free content doesn't give you, what a good paysite, webcam service, dating site, vod service will give you. Sell what the surfer can't get from a TGP. Sell one girl amateur sites with webcam shows, sell mega sites will 1000Gb of video. Either that, or decide it's all to hard and give up. As for the industry changing to be like the movie studios? Well the movie studios will soon feel the bite as bandwidth gets faster, people can copy DVDs, look what happened to the music industry? That had to change to be more like the web, not the other way around. My 2 cents. |

I don't have a problem with TGP/LL/MGP... sure, they are giving a helluva lot of free stuff and that in itself is bad. But all you get is one gallery from one site... if you want any more, you gotta search for it. You may just get frustrated enough that you end up buying a membership!
But when the entire list of the site is typed up neatly in front of you... what else do you need? No more searching, just log on to that blog and you have all the free videos you want! |

By the way, Wankmaster... you just gave me a helluva new marketing idea... I'm going to try it out on my next few free sites and let you know how that turns out!!
Tag line: "What NO tgp can give you..." or something like that! Btw.. I'm trying out something different on my blogs. Instead of going the hosted gallery route, I'm picking up the old TGP2 idea with a few changes. You get more galleries, but helluva less content per gallery and so far it converts way better. It's good think out of the box isn't it?
Hope your idea turns out well, tho I've no idea what it may be, I'd be interested to find out! Edit: By the way, I stick up a few hosted galleries, but I also do this http://completewanker.com/olga Well nothing to original there, but it seems a bit better than just slapping up a thumb which takes no effort. But the smart thing is I don't make up the pages either, I have a Wordpress Plugin that does it for me. That way I can make the "gallery" in a few minutes. Actually I think delivery method IS important.
The old porn mags pretty much died when the internet came along. Why? Well one reason was people didn't have to go to the shop be seen buying porn. Your wife may find out if it's mailed to you. On the net you can be anonymous, it's easy to hide what your'e up to. Also on the net you get it NOW. No waiting. Or did I misunderstand the point you're making? Interesting thread! |

it has nothing to do with it ,wasn't saying anything about how the content is delivered but much rather on how it is advertised
re:you need to look at how the movie studios promote the latest big hit , where the studio themself are soley behind releasing the previews/trailer for the movie, showing part of the story line and content just a taste of what lays within Last edited by biftek; 2006-04-22 at 11:04 AM.. |

OK.
So you'd have to change the whole affiliate model? With sponsors keeping tight grip on their content? Affiliates would have to buy their own content and build sites to attract surfers by other means and sponsors just let out small amounts of teaser content on banners and one or two pics? It's true, you can make sales just off a banner. |

Affiliates buying content isn't solving the problem of oversaturation of free content , but the model of teaser content on banners and one or two pics would help solve the oversaturation problem
but that would basiclly wipe out the whole affiliate side of things like for example the taste test stands down at the local supermarket , where the new whizz bang cheese on the market offers you a bite size taste , your mouth waters over it , then the person says would you like to buy it , here we have this special prize of just $5.95, now they have your mouth watering for more ,so you take up the offer on a side note , that practice pisses me off , galleries showing content that isn't on the sites , when i buy shit in shops i want to see what was advertised , but that's off topic so i wont go there Last edited by biftek; 2006-04-22 at 11:21 AM.. |

An extension of the trial membership system would work. You get say 24 hours access with some areas restricted for $1, or whatever price, then get asked to subscribe.
What puts people off is the idea they have your CC details and you have to cancel or it will reccur. More acceptance of an e-wallet where you have to top it up from your CC and they can't just take your money would help there. Then the surfer could be asked to signup for a real membership via CC at a later date for some special discount deal, or whatever. |
