Question for content producers re: models
I usually pay models an hourly rate, based on the type of content produced. My question relates to the fact that a friend and I were playing around, non-work related, and later she became a model for our site. We took some pictures when we were playing, some pretty decent hi res ones, that I'd like to use on the site and she is willing. She is totally new to modelling and I'm fairly new to hiring models, and since this wasn't on an hourly pro basis, I'm not sure what to charge. I took the photos and I have given her them to use as she wants on her own site, which she has. Should I pay on a per photo basis? I have no idea what is a fair rate. I have heard prices quoted for buying individual photos or photosets of exclusive content, but this isn't really the same thing. I tried to compare it to the time it takes to shoot a video, but again, it isn't really the same since these were kind of candid captures of what we were doing. The best I can figure is to pretend like each pic is 2-5 minutes of video time, and estimate it that way. Does that sound reasonable?

Kids are great, Appu. You can teach them to hate the things you hate and they practically raise themselves now-a-days, you know, with the internet and all

What it will be worth for you and what are you willing to pay? That will be the resonable price for you. I think nobody can give you a good answer to this. Handle it like a usual photo shooting. I would do it like this

I hope you meant to say 'each pic SET" :-) It does sound reasonable, though video tends to be much more valuable than photos these days. If she is using the content on her own website, the value is diminished as well. Your time shooting is just as valuable as her time to model (something models tend to overlook), so you might just ask her to sign off on it and you both share the material equally. |

In my experience, when working with friends on images, a simple 1:1 exchange works very well for both parties. I like Emma's idea.
Although, I'm a starving student/artist, and the images I shoot aren't nearly as public as an adult website cuz nobody want's to see mine. ![]()

We pay a fee per three set shoot that may involve photos or pics.

The other issue is that it really isn't a complete photo set, there are a few pics from different sessions, though in the same 'set' pretty much, and they aren't hardcore, though they have some nudity and niche value (asian, teen, bondage, SM), so I think the value is a bit in question in that respect. I suppose I could pay her a small fee for these, since it didn't take up much of her time or mine, as it was just casual, and they will be more of a bonus on my site and used for promo than a feature.
