Rapidshare.de
Rapidshare.de is a file sharing free host which boasts terabytes of space, but it's becoming a worse problem than Fusker because they could be serving your video content in files of up to 50MB per upload.
Because they are not stealing bandwidth, there is no way of knowing that your files are being shared across the net. Google is showing loads of well known program sites video content being linked to from forums, all you have to do is search "rapidshare.de" and add whatever keywords are appropriate. Downloads are limited to 1 per hour per IP, but you can purchase a premium pass. Not good.

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button
|
I don't get how they get away with it:
they let people pay for content they don't own..... only a matter of time before someone takes legal action |

Although rapidshare.de are not entirely blameless, I would be more annoyed with the forums whose members upload the files... forums which are supported mostly by the very sponsors their members are stealing/sharing content from.
And before the "It's ok coz we watermark our movies to advertise." squad come into the thread... you must realise that this has to be the worst kind of type-in traffic on the face of the Earth. They won't buy anything because they can download 50Meg per hour for free without even visiting your site.

Bump for something that has not been handled yet....
I see they get paid by paypal. Paypal and porn is a no go. Maybe somebody knows how to inform paypal of this? |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

They are actually one of the smaller fileshare hosts and becoming smaller because they actually take down content when a complaint is sent over by the copyright holder - and I believe their size limit is actually a lot higher than 50 mB (around 300 is common these days)
They are not just limited to porn - although there is quite a bit of it - and they dont offer access to all of the files if you pay for the premium - you can still only download from links on the msg boards out there. The real way to go against this stuff is for the copyright holders to police their stuff a little better - but to be honest I know of quite a few that post their own stuff on purpose - part of their viral marketing that also includes things like the newsgroups etc., so youre not going to find that many program owners that will do much. |

This thread is like 10 months old.
It may as well have been started by another person.

With the last ones you can put up a direct link and dont need to trust on type in traffic or people taking the trouble to find your paysite in google. I can see why paysites would do this in the old nasty dollars way when bandwith was expensive. BW is cheap nowadays though. The only thing I can think off is that they want to pretent they are surfers as well. I think they people on forums dont believe this one- post-wonder bots though. what IS the psycology of paysites doing this? |confused| (and my apologies urb. I was in a lazy mood and thought I would bump an old thread with the same topic rather then just write a new one myself) Last edited by Pornopat; 2006-08-29 at 06:24 PM.. |

Pat - first off - you get name recognition - they always have the domain name as an overlay on the video file, second - and you'd be surprised how easy this is, they can insert links, etc (we wont go into everything you can do LOL) into the movies themselves making conversions much better - and they dont have to pay a middleman(affiliates).
And yes they do pose as surfers - although there are posting bots that can do that very easily these days |

Rapidshare's file size limit is 90mb nowdays with about 100 seconds until the download starts.
I've tried to download full dvds from forums and warez sites and it worked just fine. Speed is even faster than from the member areas of the sponsors Btw. you can easily cheat rapidshare and download one file after another. Plus there are lots of other sites like files.to that don't have a download limit at all. Sucks big time! |

What about sexuploader.com? Rapidshare is always filled with warez and a little bit of porn compared to sexuploader.
