Problems playing WMV files in Mac IE5.2.2

We have a member who is unable to play embedded wmv files. She is using Microsoft Internet Explorer: Mac 5.2.2
The error message is
"The playlist format is not recognized"

Can anyone help?
Thank you

Hey-
Im running IE 5.2 on a Mac OS X.... WMV files are so funny. Sometimes I get that error, sometimes they play embeded in the browser and sometimes they open up in the standalone player. I would suggest they install (or re-install) the latest version of windows media player. Also, if they cant play wmv files why not try putting the clips in another format like mpeg, mov or rm. Its always good to offer multiple formats as there are always lots of little kinks with videos and some surfers have a prefrence.

It sounds like she is on an older version of Windows Media Player. Make she is using version 9 of the player.

Also in IE's preferences under Protoco Helpers she needs to be sure that Windows Media Player is setup to play wav files.

You didn't mention what version of Mac OS X she is using. Anything before 10.2.6 is basically not really something you would want to be using. If she is in 10.3 or better then she would be better off using Safari to browse the web.

Also what romeoboi said about wav files. I know doing reviews more often then not they just open up into a window of code instead of a movie. Holding down the option key will force them to download to your desktop and then they should play no problem.

Personally I use Mozilla, but Safari is fine as well. IE is at the bottom of the list since it is a slow buggy POS under Mac OS X.

Thanks for your advice romeoboi and cleo
I have passed it on and hopefully that should solve the problem.

(Unfortunately offering these particular movies in other formats is not an option as they are feeds)
