I was just wondering last night whether I'll continue to use Fire Fox or switch to Safari when my MBP arrives. I'll have to give the Windows version a whirl while I wait for it.

I use Safari for everything except doing geek type work.

Mostly I use Safari because it syncs with my .Mac account so all my accounts on all the Macs that I use have the same bookmarks, passwords, etc.

Also with the iPhone Safari will also sync with it.

The new find function is pretty kewl.

That highlight is nice. The basic highlighting on windows-based browsers does little to draw the eye to the words you're looking for especially short words or phrases. It's easy to get lost in pages full of text with it.

One feature Safari has (from what I've read about Safari) that you'd think every other browser would have by now is parental controls. I'm surprised IE never implemented anything similar seeing how they're in 90% of the homes out there. It's really something Apple should focus on in their marketing on the Windows platform (if that feature exists in the Windows version.)

Hm... I downloaded and it crashed every time I tried to load it but the window of errors/problem shut down too fast so I had to go back to the previous version;(

Working great here. Maybe you had some third party plug-ins installed that weren't compatible with version 3.

I personally had to disable Saft.

I hope there is a way to disable it after the second install of the new version... let's see.

I just zipped up my plug-in installs so that I could restore them later if I wanted.

I had mine installed for all users but it can also be installed for only one user by installing it into your home folder's InputManagers folder.

Thanks again... couldn't make it work but the screenshot is a big help, I deleted Saft but it just couldn't launch... maybe I am not smart being alone without anyone showing me the ropes but at least I don't give up easy and do a 6th try

Seems that some are running it without issues and some are having all kinds of problems.

Working fine over here. It is beta software though. Caught a bug and submitted it to apple when I was on the trip advisor site last night. I like how how forum elements that have been styled with CSS are rendered a lot nicer. That's one of the small differences I have seen. As far as speed it's a little bit faster. Nothing huge though.

I noticed on that macintouch link a guy complaining about losing his form memory. That's something that if he had just gone through everything once it would all be there again. Ah well.

Also the text highlighting after you see it do it's crazy highlight you can hit escape and it will go down to the normal highlight color and when you hit command-g to find again it will highlight with the new style for a second then go down to normal highlight color. Won't just stay highlighted with the new style.

Yeah I'm doing submits now and I noticed that I'm having to reenter my form info. Not a big deal as all my passwords and that kind of stuff are intact still.

Are you using Crossover or something like that?

Just did a round of submits using Safari 3 without any problems.

Although I did noticed that I had to reinstall Flash since I was getting missing plug-in when trying to view Flash.

I had this same thing happen installing this on an xp machine today...there is a fix posted on the support board that, strange as it sounds, did work for me...
Goto Program Files > Safari > Safari.resources
copy the two fonts inside to your Windows > Fonts folder
start Safari and shut it back down
Rename the above folder Safari.resources to Safari.resources1
start Safari, you'll get an error, and shut it back down
Rename the above folder back to Safari.resources
start Safari and it should be fine...
