Good Thursday To Everyone In Webmaster Land!

Good morning....NOT

I've been saving my ARS points for a LONG time & finally got enough to get myself a 42" SONY Plasma TV - YIPEE! It's getting delivered today

Over the weekend, my wife decides that she doesn't like the way the living room is arranged & that the TV & all the components should be on another wall. So I go in the basement, remove ceiling tiles, re-wire the cable, drill a hole & now I can move the TV stand/rack.

I take everything apart - TV, VCR, DVD, TiVo, Cable Box, Reveicer, Bose Speakers (anyone that has the Bose speakers with the base box/sub woofer knows what a fucking pain in the ass this is)

We take the old TV out & into the garage - it's a 36" SONY Vega & it weaighs at least 500 pounds - the boy & I damn near drop it 3 times on the way to the garage (temp home till I can get the snow removed from the entrance to the pool house/bar)

I move the TV stand, throw a little 19" TV on it so I can make sure everything works & I start to hook stuff back up.

I HAVE NO SOUND COMING OUT OF MY SPEAKERS

I try the radio, hook up the DVD player, try playing a CD - NO SOUND!

My receiver must have fucked itself in the move to it's new home 12 feet away

I gave up fucking with it after about an hour - TV arrives in 3-5 hours, so once that gets here, my nightmare will continue.

This is the reason I tell my wife to pick a fucking home for the TV & leave it there!

Greenguy just turn on the sub titles and then you don't need the sound.

Rained like hell here last night, but nice and sunny now and already up to 73˚F.

My house guest is back. Kind of like the movie What about Bob. You think they are gone, but they are never really gone.

GG I know what you mean I have moved my 60" numerous times and I have Bose surround sound system with it as well. It is a pain but the sound is worth it

Well i get something delivered today as well, my Tivo for DirecTV. I cannot wait to get this as I always have to take a piss during a pay per view movie or something, this will make sure I don't miss anything

Just had to shovel the sidewalk man im exhausted, I think I need more exercise

If you really don't feel like fucking with all that today, you can have the TV sent to me. It would be a real pain in the ass for me to figure out where to put it, and how to hook it up to my other stuff, but since you are such a nice guy I will sacrifice my day to help you. Yeah my parents have one for Dish Network and my dad uses it whenever my mom is talking while he is watching TV, he just pauses it so he doesnt miss anything. Pisses her off, its pretty funny

I moved my VCR once (yes those things still excist ) from the first floor to downstairs, hooked it up tried to start it but it didn't do anything anymore. I think these machines have a mind of their own, or it was the altitude difference of 10 feet..

Holy Fuck! What a nightmare the last 1-1/2 hours have been.

They show up at noon & ask where I want the TV - I show them where I have the stand for the TV already set up (that's another beef I have with these plasma TV people - $500 for the fucking stand or $500 for the wall mount) The delivery guy informes me that they (him & his delivery partner) do not set up the TV, they only deliver it. So he gives me a lcoal number to call about the "installation" - I put that in quotes because all I need these rumps to do is put the TV on the stand.

I call the number. They tell me since it was bought online, I have to call the online delivery number.

I call them - they tell me I need another department for "installation" & give me another number.

I call the next number - they tell me that it's $389 for the installation of any plasma TV. I fucking SNAP! After I yell at them a bit, screaming that I just paid $8600 for the TV & how dare they ask for another $400 to put the thing on the stand, I'm told to call the Customer Service dept & I'm given another number.

I call that number & explain things & I am told to call the local number. I inform the guy on the other end that is the number I FUCKING CALLED IN THE 1ST PLACE!

After I calm down, I call the 1st number back. I speak to the same lady I spoke to 30-40 min ago, yet she has no clue who I am. I am put on hold.

I hear a few clicks.

The phone goes dead.



I call the number again & get the operator & ask to speak to the store manager. He's not there. I ask rather politely for the operator to give me whoever is in charge of the store at this time. I speak to another lady who instantly appologies for the other lady cutting me off. I explain my situation to her & she says she'll call me back.

10 min later I get a call & she tells me the delivery guys will be back shortly to put my TV on the stand.

They just left - my TV is in place.

Of course, since it sat in a warehouse overnight, I can't turn the fucking thing on for another 3 hours

Advice to anyone getting a plasma TV from Circuit City - DON'T LET THE DELIVERY GUYS LEAVE UNTIL YOUR TV IS IN PLACE!!!!!!!!


PS - part 2 of my stereo problem - I have another receiver that I hooked up & it works, so that means my receiver has to go into the show

Pretty typical service people....now-a-days you have to do it yourself to get it right....people don't give a flying f**k.

I had that problem a few months ago with a dryer I bought for my daughter. i went into Sears because they have a good reputation for small appliances and order it delivered and setup. I paid cash and the salesman signed so he could get his commission. This is a top of the line gas dryer.

Well where the old one that just died was wasn't where either she or I wanted the new one to go. So when they I arrive I pointed to where we wanted it. Same bullshit you went through. Well we only deliver. You have to call for service to come out and connect. They ave me a number and when I called they the person from West Virginia or Texas or someplace a thousand miles away said "we don't do installation like that. We only install where the old one is." Now I'm getting hot. I told her to come and pick the damn thing up. Mind you it is paid for and delivered now. She scheduled it for 2 days later.

Then I tell my nephew the runaround I was getting and he said he would do it for me. I was not there when they showed up to remove it and they couldn't get in. Their service called 3 times a week for the next month and a half to reschedule and finally got the hint. LOL
