I now use 20 after starting with 10. People REALLY love the Search Cloud. I guess it is a novelty.

That which does not kill us, will try, try again.

I just took a quick look at my tag clouds on XLog and Free Sex Stories blogs and I'm using over 150 on XLog and nearly 200 on the stories blog.
I'm not saying more is better, just saying those are my counts. . |bat|

If its for front page navigation I like having a top 100 tags but I also like having a page that displays all tags

While I'm here I should ask - is there a recommended tag cloud plugin? I don't have one and wasn't going to bother but I've read here and elsewhere that users like them. Is it tricky to get one happening on a WP blog?
Thanks

If your using UTW its a piece of cake.
If you want to include a tag cloud page: When you downloaded UTW one of the files in the template directory should have been names tags.php. Copy it into your template directory. Go to write page, give the page a name like tag cloud. Select tag archive from the list of page templates and save. You now have a tag cloud page. If you just want to add a tag cloud to your sidebar there is a number of different options. Go options/tags in admin. Click on local help and then on the right side click "display a tag cloud". It will show you the code you need to add to your sidebar. As an example this code in your sidebar Code:
<?php UTW_ShowWeightedTagSetAlphabetical("coloredsizedtagcloud","",0) ?> If that doesn't work, just click your heals three times while yelling WALRUS. But if your not using UTW...don't blame me!!! |

I sticked with 15 on the frontpage and expand it under the posts.

Thanks Walrus. Yep, I'm using UTW, so that sounds like I could actually do it without too much hassle

With $10,000, we'd be millionaires! We could buy all kinds of useful things like ... love!

100 might be good for a general site, but for a niched site I dunno if I would go over 25. Too many tags can get confusing for a surfer like me.
BTW when I started using the new WP tag cloud, I started getting technorati traffic almost instantly, without ever submitting my blog. |

the 2.3.1 version of wordpress has a tag system build into it.. I'm quite happy with this standard plugin.. Or do you guys think UTW would be better
