Image "alt" tags

Does anyone use them for galleries?
Anyone getting SE traffic from submitted galleries?

Out of habit more than anything else I use the alt tag for pretty much everything, freesites & blogs. I've seen some decent traffic (numbers) from the SE's and for the longest time I was high up on the 1st page for "pussy" on Google images. Despite an insane amount of traffic (for me) I hardly ever made a sale, so my conclusion is that image traffic sucks.

Lemmy, Ive been told both. I think it may have to do with the key word or phrase...honestly I think those that surf the word Porn or pussy or tits and the like, are probably teen age boys LOL. and they wouldnt/cant convert at all. The reason I know this is because when my wifes son first figured out he could search for porn, those were the things he typed in his search...now that hes 18 his searches have become more defined LOL...sorry for the off topic, but in regard to ALT tags I use them on everything I was just seeing who did/did not and if there was a "norm" for their use.

I have no clue if the alt tags help or not, but I use them on all the pics, my free sites, galleries, hubs, banners; just about everywhere.

I have no stats to back it up but I always use them. Do they help? Don't know for sure.

i agree, i always use alt tags for better SEO optimization. But i recieve only google images traffic and small part of normal se traffic.
But it's easy... to do, why not?

I have good luck with image traffic. It does convert if you send it to the right places.

I agree with Maj. Stress. All traffic is good traffic. Firstly, it ups your PR, so you get more of it. Secondly, how much you make from it depends how you use it.

The traffic is never bad news. Your failure to use it may be. When you have options, so this advice is no good for free sites, make damned sure you are using them.

When somebody leaves your site, do your damndest to make sure you are pointing them where you want them to go.

Of course there's good traffic and bad traffic, or should I say "traffic less likely to convert", which is about the same thing. Some people just have no intention of buying no matter what and perhaps people searching Google for images of pussy belong to that category.

I am not sure its a right thing but I always use my longest description in alt tags, title and meta desc. when I submit galleries...
