I don't think it's about the quality of the free content. I think it's all about the quantity, and by quantity I mean the length of the videos and the content of the pictures.
When I started in this business, it was all about providing "teaser" content, and the surfer would have to whip out the credit card to see the full length stuff (free videos were few and far between in those days). That model will still work. The problem IMO is the amount of full length videos that the surfer can get for free these days. The problem: Tube sites that allow any Tom, Dick and Mary to upload full length videos, and the sponsors that don't seem to care. If you want to form a coalition, how about "If we see your full length content being given away for free, we, the coalition, will no longer promote your program". They're allowing tube sites to give away the stuff we're trying to sell.
