What $ to charge for writing blog posts?

I've been trying this out the past few weeks and it's fun, easy and good pocket money.

So far I've seen the good and ugly side of this niche business and it doesn't surprise me there are a few scoundrels afoot.

The standard I've been presented is $2-$3 per 100-150 words a post.

Not bad for practicing and learning about blogging.

I'm a professional writer and we often joke about how many of us started in romance and adult. You'ld be surprised who has and still does!

Do you hire or write? Pros and cons?

I write and hire as well. A good friend of mine is now getting into the blog post writing business as well, so I just ordered 500 posts from him which he's going through. Once he's done with mine, I'll start pimping his services around? $2-$3 per post sounds around right, though he will probably start closer to the $2 and a bit lower, until he gets enough clients/positive testimonials.

BTW, the price depends a lot on whether or not the writer is supposed to upload the images, link them, and format the post. If it's only text (webmaster prepares everything in WP beforehand), then is could be cheaper.
