I remember seeing him for the fist time on The Tonight Show about 1970 or so, and hosting New Year's Rockin' Eve 1974.

He was a great one!

Oh Fuck!! the sad part for me is that last weekend he was at the Orleans which is like 3 blocks from me. Spud wanted to go see a movie i didn't want to see, so i said..maybe i'll go see Carlin while you are at the movies.

didn't happen..and now I'm kicking my own ass.

One of the endearing things about him was he could go from the conductor on Thomas the Tank, to the Hippy Dippy Weatherman to the 7 words without even a blink.
