This happened to me. My ex-husband was a gambling addict. We moved to Vegas from Hawaii, and ended up losing everything and divorcing. He's now back in Hawaii. Thank GOD MadHatter isn't one, he doesn't even gamble, lol. And I'm a light weight, I felt guilty yesterday for playing craps for almost 2 hours and spent $20, lol.

Summerland is a nice area, we drive in from Pahrump and shop at the Costco down by Red Rock Casino. I really hate to drive into the city any more, as I'm used to Pahrump traffic. They have everything you need out there, the roads are nice, and not being torn up currently. I never had kids in school in Vegas, and not sure on the school systems though...definitely something to check out. I rented in several areas myself, although when I finally bought a place, I fell in love with Pahrump and ended up out here.

once you've lived here, you'll almost never go to the strip unless its to see a show or you have out of town guests. i'll take Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock over most of the stuff on the strip.

BUT..if either of you works outside the house anywhere outside of your immediate neighborhood, remember that roads/highways in Vegas are always under construction.. in an ongoing effort to shore up the sagging infrastructure..it will add 15-20 minutes to any commute.

On the other hand if you both work at home, Summerlin is a good area with lots of shops, dining etc.

For the most part we both work at home. But being so close to the strip will be awesome as well.

once you get a mile or so off the strip, its your average american city. Where I live it looks almost identical to suburban phoenix. While all that craziness is around, its pretty easy to avoid. But its there if you want it. I love living here.

Well I know my hubby is not a gambling addict at least. We have been to A.C. many times, and we never bring more then 7-800 bucks with us to gamble. Just to have some fun. We always expect to lose, then if we win, it is just a bonus.

We like the property sizes around Pahrump, but it is just to far away from where we want to be. We plan on having member bar meets frequently in Vegas as well. We may very well end up renting an apartment for a month or two, while we look around more. Really still unsure at this point. But we are narrowing down our search area as much as we can.

Sounds great SykkBoy....I know anything you put-together will be fun man! I remember getting together at that Chinese Restaurant over by the Sunset Station years ago, when that gal with the purple hair was with us...we had a great time! Ginny and I always enjoy seeing you! I guess we have all been way to busy lately....but we need to get-together more often, that's for sure! We are looking forward to it! :-)

Pei Wei...damn good restaurant and it was Zoe with us.

We definitely need to get together for lunch or something again soon...
