I feel like I'm getting screwed.

I sent a package to a buyer, and it was delivered (according to USPS tracking) on the 27th. The buyer is saying they never got it.

I told them talk to the post office, neighbors, leave a note for mail person, roommates, etc.

Nope, don't have it...maybe it was stolen off my porch, do you have insurance?

No idiot, you declined the insurance, how about your home owner insurance?

Nope, I'm a renter.

So I finally told them they have to file a dispute. Which means they will lose, as I have proof of receipt, but since they kept saying "any other suggestions" I bet they were just waiting for me to offer a refund, no way the thing was 66$ I'm not going to refund that when it shows it was delivered.

And I have a feeling after 8 years on ebay, this will land me my first negative feedback.

I will never list up an item selling for over 20 bucks without forcing them to take insurance after this experience.

Anyone EVER had a package show it was delivered, and not have it there? I sure have not.

When I was selling on eBay (1999-2006) I required insurance on anything breakable or anything over $50. Most of what I sold was antique glass, so nearly everything went out insured.

I only had one package in all that time never show up. The buyer had to wait 30 days before they could file a claim for missing package, but they did get their refund from the USPS.

I don't recall whether tracking showed the pkg being delivered or not, it's been about 4 or 5 years.

I would contact USPS and report this to them and tell the buyer that they need to call the local police and report this since they are claiming they never received it which means a felony has been committed, I would also ask for the police information from the buyer and what officer he/she reported this to and contact the officer to confirm this.

If they are honest they will call the cops and give you the info, if they are lying they will BS you.

I would also make sure I kept all communication to/from them and only speak to them via email.

And I would not give the guy a refund for sure! You have proof it was delivered.

I'd like to add. A negative feedback won't hurt you unless you only have a few positives.

I guess all you can do on the reply to the negative feedback is say you have proof of delivery. I am usually on the buying end of transaction and I just get the insurance for anything over $25 or $50 to avoid these types of hassles. BTW, what was the value of the item?

I have sold on ebay and have had more than 1400 transactions and in all that time Ive only had 1 person claim they never received their product. That was overseas customer...and it was only a $10 auction for a post card. But I have herd/seen otehrs almost get scammed to give refunds when they have sent something and the person claims they havent gotten it. The proof is on your side. Theyd have a hard time proving they didnt get it. Dont refund them at all. And as far as I know I believe the feedback forum is a bit different now...check it out and see if negative can be given any longer.

But.....

About 3 months ago I was waiting for a package from amazon, and I was tracking it.
USPS says they delivered it.
I never got it.
All types of complaints to the Post office at all levels. They say it was delivered.
Amazon sends me a new item free of charge which I get.
3 weeks later I come home from work and there is my original package soaking wet (on my enclosed porch) that the PO says they delivered a month before.

Case B
My mom is up in PA at my sisters, so I leave two boxes all labeled with priority mail postage for her neighbor to forward her mail with.
A week b4 she is coming home, we start looking for the second box.
PO says it delivered it a few days before.
Mom comes home, and 3 weeks later the box mysteriously appears at my sisters door (over a month after the PO SAID they delivered it)

NEVER EVER trust USPS delivery receipts

I think if they leave you negative feedback and you have proof that it was delivered, then I think you can call ebay and they can remove that. Something similar happened to me recently, but thankfully it was worked out. Apparently her daughter took in the package and forgot to tell her mom that it was delivered. 2 weeks later.

Well, they claimed my package was delivered, the mailman even said he remembered leaving it at the door.

I never got the package and the lady I ordered it from didn't believe me, the mailman didn't believe me either.

I understand your end RedCherry if it said it was delivered they could be trying to rip you off. But being on the other side of it I felt like people thought I was lying and I wasn't. |cry

Once I sold Dj Turntable to a guy from Turkey.
I received confirmation of delivery after 5 weeks but he told me that he don't have it.
After another 5 days he contact me stating that the item was laying on his front porch for 5 days and unfortunately nobody notice that.
UPS guy just left the thing without notice, just like that.

Go figure.

But I would do what Torn said.

Funny, after I finally told the buyer, all that is left is the dispute process, I haven't heard one word from them. Really makes me think that he/she (one of those names I can't tell) was trying to get me to offer a refund. Especially when I kept offering things to do, and they kept having an answer, "any other suggestions?"

I never could get an answer yes or no if they left a message for the mail man/woman to ask them directly about delivering the package, only that they had "talked to the post office."

Sue-fl, I understand that would be painful, but if that had happened to me, I'd of filed a claim of theft with my homeowner's insurance, and a police report like Torn said. I even suggested it to the buyer, but his answer was, "nope, I'm a renter, any other suggestions?" I wanted to write back, "yea, buy renters insurance, and next time don't decline insurance".
