What do you get when you run a traceroute?
Have you tried using another browser like Mozilla or Netscape. |

Do a traceroute using your PC not a web app.
I don't use Windows but I think it is done by going to your Start menu and choosing Run and then typing tracert swingfordollars.com I may have tracert wrong. I'm on a Mac and we type traceroute and I can never seem to remember the way to spell it when I'm using a PC. |

That shows the problem is right at your PC and not somewhere on the net.
Are you on DSL or cable or on a dialup? Are you using a router? What do you have for your DNS in your TCP? I don't know, maybe try deleting your network settings and then adding them back in. |

I'm sorry I just looked again at that traceroute that you posted and realized that you are getting past your gateway and that it is a router someplace out on the web.
Yeah call up your ISP and bitch. |

All a traceroute does is show all the routers between you and where you are connecting to.
Strange that it doesn't show you being able to connect to this board, guess you really aren't here. ![]() Actually mine shows that it is having a bit of trouble getting here. $ traceroute greenguysboard.com traceroute to greenguysboard.com (66.115.135.175), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 * * * 2 adsl-34-72-1.mia.bellsouth.net (67.34.72.1) 62.504 ms 16.997 ms 17.066 ms 3 adsl-152-108-33.mia.bellsouth.net (205.152.108.33) 15.659 ms 27.048 ms 21.312 ms 4 209.215.49.62 (209.215.49.62) 17.137 ms 18.759 ms 18.583 ms 5 axr00mia-1-3-0.bellsouth.net (65.83.237.8) 17.723 ms 17.338 ms 21.894 ms 6 pxr00mia-0-0-0.bellsouth.net (65.83.236.16) 16.751 ms 16.776 ms 17.137 ms 7 65.57.174.1 (65.57.174.1) 29.862 ms 23.194 ms 19.121 ms 8 so-7-0-0.mp2.miami1.level3.net (4.68.112.45) 33.542 ms 24.017 ms 19.556 ms 9 as-2-0.bbr1.washington1.level3.net (64.159.1.2) 61.305 ms 43.11 ms 49.754 ms 10 so-6-0-0.edge1.washington1.level3.net (209.244.11.10) 50.178 ms 43.466 ms 55.024 ms 11 aleron-level3-vlan.washington1.level3.net (209.0.227.110) 55.148 ms 47.251 ms 52.014 ms 12 ge3-4.as.sdatlga.aleron.net (205.198.2.78) 85.643 ms 66.921 ms 63.337 ms 13 ndc2.as.sdatlga.aleron.net (205.198.2.158) 72.401 ms 63.793 ms 64.305 ms 14 * * * 15 core1-border1-gm.atl.national-net.com (66.115.128.46) 60.734 ms 61.855 ms 65.419 ms 16 greenguysboard.com (66.115.135.175) 64.528 ms 61.149 ms 61.902 ms |

I called my isp, they say its not on their end, weridest thing is that I checked with a friend who is on the same isp as me, and they have no problem accessing the sites, and another weird thing is that I have access to the webmaster program, www.cjbucks.com but not to any of their paysites (ex www.splats.com) however for me, if I trying pinging either cjbucks.com or any paysite I get request timed out......
has this happened to anyone else |

Well the traceroute that you posted shows the problem here.
14 134 ms 134 ms 134 ms atl-bb1-pos0-1-0.telia.net [213.248.80.58] 15 * * * Request timed out. What happens if you use a different name server in your network settings? Try 205.152.0.5 This one belongs to bellsouth. If you know some proxy servers you could also try that. Mac users use NetShade, don't know if something like that exists for the PC. It's great for seeing what surfers see coming from other counties or getting around router issues. Also if it was me I would try turning off my cable modem for 10 minutes or so. Also as I said in an earlier post I would try deleting out my network settings, restarting, then adding them back in. Also I know that PC users like to run Firewalls like Norton System Works that can cause problems. Try turning off all your security stuff and see if the problem goes away. |

finally fixed, I have no idea why....I want to thank Cleo for your great help,
here's what I did, I on a cable modem, and my midem has the option to connect via usb or ethernet card. Originally I was using usb, over the weekend I changed it to connect via my ethernet card, and since then I've had this problem....so few min ago I swicthed back to usb....havn't forgotten that I had changed it, anyway to make a long story short its working.... ![]() nonethless its still very weird why it would happen, if I pinged the sites when I was connected with the ethernet card I got "no respose" now that I'm connected with the usb it pings it properly.....who knows ![]() |

Isn't there two different settings in your network settings, one for USB and one for Ethernet?
Are they both set up the same? |
