I'd be more interested in the drop-in referrer counter than the hub creator right now, so I'll just talk about that.

It only needs to collect and output two things, the exact url of the referrer and the number of visitors from each referrer. It doesn't need to be that accurate even, so a java script might do best.

The output could be a simple html page with two columns, one for number and one for referrer. The referrer link should be clickable html link, not text.

Absolutely no need for graphs, or any other info. Better if it does the least possible, keep it fast and rugged.

A line of ssi implies that the page be an shtml or that the proper htaccess be set, it would be better if it could be dropped onto a plain html page. It's okay if it is attached to a gif, but I don't want to have to use a 1x1 gif, make it so that I can attach it to any size gif.

It's purpose is to take in-house samples of traffic, especially search engine traffic, to a page without having to do log analysis.

It would be absolutely ideal if it could collect months of data, if left in place, just constantly adding referrer information to an html page that I can view.

You make a counter that does that, chances are decent you'll make a name with it.
