I use wp-dbmanager to maintain my database

Cant you set up a cron job to backup then optimize your databases daily? I know I back mine up daily to a different partition with a cron job.

I could but what I like about this plug-in is that it does a few more things along with backing up your database. You can also schedule it to optimize your database and to run a repair routine.
