Vote on a domain for my tube site

Nah, tubes are not going anywhere. They are just a newer version of MGP and they are still around. Just like Blogs, TGPs, LinkLists and even picposts. They may not be the flavor of the month a year from now but they will still have surfers and will still create sales.

You're right....those are good ones.


That being said, there should be plenty of decent ideas out there and you could always point the hyphenated domain to a regular one if its available.

After learning the lesson the hard way, I usually try to get both versions of a domain for anything important, and point one of the versions to the other depending on which one I think is better in that case (easy to read, to see the words, etc). If the non-hyphenated is already taken I don't bother with that domain since I know my work will benefit someone else.

In Tommy's case he has both versions, and he points the non-hyphenated to the hyphenated, probably because it's easier to read that way (but no matter what a surfer types he'll still get to Tommy's site).

In Greenguy's case, someone else owns the non-hyphenated version and they're making money by parking the domain and letting it be fed by surfer traffic too lazy to type hyphens when they hear about the great Link O Rama site.

Domains were pretty expensive ($70 or so each) when I started, so we have lots of domains where we only own one version. But with domains costing under $10, it seems a wise move to grab both versions now.
