Films have always moved me. Why else watch them if they don't make you laugh, or cry or even just smile?

My kids were only laughing at me earlier tonight for all my body language and facial expressions whilst watching movies.. if I get into a movie.. I get right into it! I could be just a boob though, as I sometimes even get a lump in the throat watching those human intertest stories they put on at the end of the news.. lol

Maybe you and I are just sensitive new age guys Jim ;-)

Yeah ditto on what Jim said.

Actually if they didn't then I probably wouldn't be watching them. A good book affects me in the same way.

suspension of disbelief. That's what the studios are going for. You know it isn't real, it's actors playing a role, but we make an agreement with them.
They tell the story well, and we will believe it for those 90-120 minutes.
I completely fall for it every time I see a good movie (I think this is a good thing by the way), I get choked up a lot of times during dramas when your supposed to, get mad and hate the bad guy. I LOVE movies that do that to me. Luckily I am still able to have those strong emotions from flicks, and it effects the way I work.

I have to always remember that thats what we (as an industry) are trying to do with our content. Tell a story. Convince people that this boyfriend/girlfriend have never met before and stuff like that. If they buy into it, they recur.

Oh crap, I better stop here before I start going on and on, this is a topic very close to my heart.

I once watched "Jungle Book" and afterwards I wanted to go hunt some bengal tigers...

I like to watch movies because they somehow manage to bring me into a fantasy world for an hour or 2

Some movies interest me only while others affect me a great deal. I don't think I have seen any movies lately that have moved me emotionally, they may have moved me to change the channel though

I won't even see some movies because they will do nothing but make me mad at the injustice shown in the movies. But then I'm the type who cries during the National Anthem.

Pathetic, isn't it?

Nope, not at all. I am sure a lot of vets like myself get the same feeling during the National Anthem as you. It's not pathetic to get emotional. That;s the way it should be. Hard to be cynical with tears in your eyes

I used to be very stoic watching film but something changed in the last several years and now I'm an emotional idiot with good acting. Not just movies either. Joan of Arcadia is an emotional rollercoaster for me - in just a single 1/2hr I'll laugh, cry, get pissed, you name it. Damn that's a good show.

I watch maybe 3 or 4 movies a year - even if I'm paid to watch.
They don't affect me one bit.

However, seemingly odd things do.
ESPN's story about the Duke center from Africa, that was a good one.

I love movies.

Old black and white comedy ones like Marx Brothers and W.C. Fields makes me laugh like a madman. Chaplin movies almost get a tear in my eyes...

Latest movie I really liked was Pirates of Caribbean. We must watch that flick again soon.

Shindler's List brough a tear in my eye when it was ending and old jews were in the cemetery...I'm not that tough after all, lol!

If movie is good, it blows you inside, and you live in that fantasy as long as it runs. Good example is Titanic. I thought it must be shitty movie, but my wife wanted it, so I bought DVD. I was sure I was in Titanic whole time...partly because I sometimes wish I had lived in a time when there were still some luxurious in life. Still, I'm lucky I wasn't in Titanic, lol!

Of course big help is that we have our own private movie theater. Seleco video cannon, 2 meters wide silver screen and top notch DVD player and home theatre audio.

I threw up watching Pretty Women - the simple thought of that movie still makes me nauseous

I love the old slapstick stuff - Laurel and Hardy - Buster, and Harold Lloyd was great http://www.haroldlloyd.com/main.asp

I loved Schindler's list - but it was one those movies that become more and more difficult to watch for me, I've watched it three times now, and I have only been able to watch it straight through the first time - so much for desensitization!

Any movie by the Python team still has me pissing myself - anything by Scorsese is A ok by me - that's one cool film maker - Raging Bull is still my all time fave

War movies - Apocalypse Now, I never get bored watching that - and Black Hawk Down is on of the best in the genre I have seen in a long time - stunning FX - Oh, and Band Of Brothers - great, riveting story, and stunning film making!

Cheers,

Paul.
