Effectively promoting a paysite without affiliates?

Hi people, newb here

Most of what I do is blogging, two tips I would give. Write for people not search engines, sure use a keyword list but try to keep it readable and interesting, and aim for over 200 words a post at least.

Second thing, don't link them all together, but once you have a few posts up on them register at Linkspun and get some trades going there.

What would the argument be against linking them all together? I thought the goal for most people was to try to keep surfers contained entirely within your network. Much how the CJ sites operated in the past, once you got in... you couldn't get out, unless you clicked an ad banner.

If you link TOO tightly, it looks like you are trying to artificially inflate your popularity to google.

I suggest you also get back into galleries and free site submits daily. If that was working for you, why not go back to it?

And also add the blogs. Depending upon what your site is about, if it is a smaller niche, you might be able to figure out some keywords to try for, and use those for blog domains, driving traffic to you site. And make sure you use tagging, (I like the Better Tag Cloud plugin) I have tags on my main blog that rank very well in search engines.

What I do is submit galleries and/or free sites, then blog about that free site, with links to it and a few sample pics (or sample vid if that is your thing), and maybe 1 direct link to my premium site. That way I'm double promoting everything I submit.
