I thought of that exact image when I got the email notification of your reply.

Fortunately these are pretty small islands so they do a staff walk through of the acres to be burned to be sure the little deer and marsh rabbits are warned something is about to happen. They do this every year and, so far, no deer on fire have been seen.

I've been to the Keys hundreds of times and even lived there for almost a year but I've yet to spot a deer.

Probably because there are no deer on the islands, the one in Simon's pic was probable taxidermized by Chuck Testa
