Elvis birthday today. 80 if he had lived!

One of my neighbours just got accepted in sheltered accommodation for the elderly. I congratulated him, he lives in a small one room apartment, the entire place smaller than most people's bathroom, so getting a large apartment in what is basically an "old people's home" is good for him. But I nearly hit him when he suggested I applied for a similar apartment!

Just heard on TV that 7% of Americans think that Elvis is still alive. So from the "post views" column I can estimate that about 3 people read my last post and thought "What does Ecchi mean 'if he had lived', he is alive and celebrating his birthday somewhere!"

I have never understood that song. He sings "hound dog" as though it means "low life". However "hounds" are the high class end of the dog world. "Hounds" are pedigree dogs that are well trained.

Slightly different words, but still no idea what a "hound" really is:

Elvis - "They said you were high class but that was just a lie... you ain't nothing but a hound dog."

Big Mama Thornton - "They though you were high class but I can see through that... you ain't nothing but a hound dog."

If they knew what the word actually meant - "You really are high class....that's why they call you a hound dog."
