Tuesday October 3rd (RIP Tom Petty)

We had a good visit with my husband's relatives yesterday -- they loved our house. His mom was stunned at how much we had gotten done here... well yeah, since we were not entertaining daily. It felt good to have the house clean and in order. I did a gluten-free applesauce spice cake for them with apples from our tree and it came out perfect. If you didn't know there was no wheat flour in it, you would never ever know.

My mom turned 91 on Sunday, and we had a tough time getting her to answer her phone. She saw our number come up with our 358 area code, but kept hanging up on us because she thought we were scammers. We finally did get to talk to her - about 1am our time.

The last 24 hours have taken a toll. I can't believe what happened in Las Vegas. My mind can't wrap itself around it. There will never be definitive answers as the shooter killed himself. And then the mess with Tom Petty. I need to work today as I didn't get anything done yesterday, but I can't really focus yet.
