TGPX Question

I was looking at TGPX today. Found a version at git that was updated to PHP 5.5 but still was using the mysql libraries.

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile for me to go through and update a version to use the PDO libraries or MYSQLi so it could be used on PHP 5.6 and higher.

Do any of you have a version that is no longer using the mysql libs?

Only then GG could fit/redo to his needs with TGPX.
Model tag pages and search scripts without mysqli or pdo aren't secure enough or at all with mysql.

If that would allow for me to implement all my bells & whistles, I'd be willing to throw a couple* bucks to anyone that could help
