I got one that I could swear was from paypal last week. I even sent it to spoof@paypal.com to ask if it was real. They wrote back the next day saying no and thank you.

Jim - same here. They even emailed me asking if I could forward them a copy of the email with the header info.

The best thing to do when you receive email like this is look at the link. If you cant see it, right mouse click and select copy shortcut, or use any other method you know how to copy the link, then paste it somewhere so you can read it. For PayPal, the links will always go to paypal.com something like: (https://www.paypal.com/fraudcheck/se...html?sl=070304) but it really goes to something like: (http://v093707.blabla.kasserver.com/...erry/scampage/). So if you don't see it linking directly to PayPal, its not from them.

I get the same type emails from ebay as well.

NOTE: I modified the scam link above, even though it has been shut down, just so nobody would mistanly click it or something.

I think I am going to start a new site with tips of how to avoid phishing.

Basically, NO COMPANY WILL ASK YOU VIA EMAIL FOR THIS INFORMATION. If they think there is a security issue, they will be ON THE PHONE, or better, IN WRITING VIA SNAIL MAIL.

Want to have fun? Go to the site in question and fill in BS info. Lots of it. Fill in the form 25 times. Give them 25 semi valid made up names, fake addresses, etc. Give them the whole load.

If enough people do that, their data will be useless.
