I'm just in the process of moving a domain that was registered by one of my hosts (through godaddy) into my own godaddy account.
I had to fax my drivers license, my signature and a statement saying that I would like the domain to be moved. While it's a bit of a pain in the ass, I think godaddy are fairly careful with moving domains.
