The guys from Totally4freecash.com have sent me a rubber check for an account which has been closed.

The amount? A princely sum of $116 + $30 bank charges.

Worth passing on to my legal guy? I'm told they'd incur his charges aswell.

These people have previously sent me checks passed the 60 day expiry date! and have been months late sending this one - I'm all for giving people a fair chance, but now I'm pissed.

Have you written to them? And if so, what did they tell you?

Remember, there are a lot of reasons for a check to be returned.

Hit em with legal straight away. I'm serious ... if what you say is true, you need to hit em with legal asap.

had a sponsor go bust on me when others sued him. Quite easy to go 'bust' when you really want to ;-)

Jim,

Last time I think I spoke to a guy called Al via email and I requested they send a check within 7 days or I'd procede with legal action - They were actually good to their word and got the check to me... now it's been returned unpaid with ACCOUNT CLOSED DO NOT REDEPOSIT stamped all over it.

As I said, it was very late in getting to me anyway and the check before that had expired (past 60 days) when that arrived.

I have emailed them again today, I'm not inclined to take another rubber check from these jokers, if they wire the money I won't take the matter any further.

It's not the amount, $116 (or $146 with bank charges) is nothing in the scheme of things. I just really hate bullshitters.

Also, flip them off. If you know the general direction from your location to their main offices, extend your middle finger in that direction and make disparaging remarks about their parentage.

I've done that for a couple sponsors.

Just an update -

Apparently I was sent an email informing me that the account for these guys was closed and not to cash the check but rather to wait for a newly issued one, I presume from another account.

The check was dated 27/2/03
Email supposedly sent 17/3/03

So of course, I'd already deposited the money. /mad/

I'm waiting to hear back to see if they will cover the $30 costs I've incurred alongside sending a new check.

Jeez! some people.
