Well, as entertaining as it would be to come in here and insult everyone with words like 'stupid' and 'beetleheaded', I think I'll just jump into the debate instead.
I am typically fairly single-minded, but in this situation I tend to somewhat agree with both sides of the argument. I do think we should always be developing new ways to earn from our sites, but one does have to consider the fact that you are charging a fee to view a product owned by someone else. Does it harm the gallery owner? No, but that doesn't make it ethical. This really comes down to business ethics, doesn't it? Isn't that BigJohn's point? Ethics are funny things. You either get them, or you don't.
Would a TGP charging the no-skim fee make a certain amount of money? Probably. A lot of money? No. It would make money from new and inexperienced surfers. Maybe not enough to even make it worth the hassle. Mostly, I don't think it is a good idea to inform surfers that you are fucking with them in the first place. And you couldn't sell this package without telling them so. You may as well just put a link to the Hun or Ampland. 'Pay me $5 or go to these other sites and surf for free.' If the surfer found you via SE, they'll just click back to the SE. If they were tossed your way via someone else's skim, they can just close your window and click another link.
