Exclamation Having a serious but stupid PC issue

A few months ago I had a few members tell me they could not see the thumbs I use to link to my wmv’s inside my members area. I asked around and no one I asked ever heard of this, so none of us could do anything about it. So for those few members I added text links.

Last week it has happen to me. Inside my own members area I do not see any thumbs to any movie (thumbs to the images still work) My logo on all the main pages was gone, the flash banner we use to promote private camz no longer shows up.

I installed SP2 well over a month ago and until last week had no issues. I have Norton system works and Norton anti spam and I see nothing in those admins to make me think it is either of those programs.

I’ve had many people look over the site and everyone says everything works for them. Even when I look at the source of the page, no line is there for the thumbs I use to link to the movies. The flash code is there, but nothing shows up at all on my pc, just a blank spot.

Today I removed SP2 and the thumbs and flash still do not work. I also changed the file name of my logo inside my member’s area and that now works.

I’ve had a few people say it was caused by the spaces I left in the file path. For example I have:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbation dildo fuck cum 2m10s/masturbation dildo fuck cum 2m10s.jpg

linking to:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbation dildo fuck cum 2m10s/masturbation dildo fuck cum 2m10s.wmv

But I made a page and have tried:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbation-dildo-fuck-cum 2m10s/masturbation-dildo fuck-cum-2m10s.jpg

Linking to:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbation-dildo-fuck-cum 2m10s/masturbation-dildo fuck-cum-2m10s.wmv

As well as:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbationdildofuckcum2m10s/masturbationdildofuckcum2m10s.jpg

Linking to:

url/members/xxx/videos/cum/masturbationdildofuckcum2m10s/masturbationdildofuckcum2m10s.wmv

And they are still not working. This is a screen cap of what I see

http://www.katvixen.com/tech/1.jpg

The rows are supposed to go all the way across, and that is where the thumbs are supposed to be as well.

I have spent too much time trying to figure this crap out and I have no clue. On Toni’s pc she can not see flash banners or thumbs either. My default browser is IE, I also tried this in Netscape 7.1 and the exact same thing happens. Toni uses firefox and the same issue. On our 3rd pc everything works as it should, the only difference is it has never had SP2 on it or Norton. I have also changed the name of the thumbs and they still do not show up.

If anyone wants to look inside my members area let me know and I will set up a password.

My ICQ # is 123278082 please feel free to hit me up or email me at TORN@KatCash.com I you have a suggestion or idea.

Thank You in advance.

Torn...

I dont use XP (cause its crap!) ..but I dont believe you can "truly" REMOVE SP2

Do things work with NORTON off? (I hate Norton and it causes shit loads of prob)

Pure guess.... but it sounds like referrers are being blocked. and you htaccess stops the display of images

Yes I turned Norton off, and they still did not work. But is it ever really “off”?

You’re the 2nd to tell me that SP2 is still going to be there, but I had to try something, this has taken a lot of my time over the last week.

I posted this here and on another board, and a friend is coming over tonight to look at it, and if no one has an idea in the next day or so I am going to format the damn thing.

This shit is really pissing me off.

My next computer *WILL* be a MAC.

I told you this on ICQ but it's worth repeating… spaces in your paths are not a good thing.

Yes you did as well as a few others, but that doesn’t make sense on my logo which never had a space, or the flash banners.

And the few pages I tested w/o spaces do not work, so is it possible that the spaces I do have will cause this entire BS with other things as well?

I would agree with DD that something on your end is blocking referrals so your htaccess is blocking the images.

Torn,

I'll take a look. I have XP Pro SP1, and run NAV. NO SP2 though. Waiting until SP2a comes out.

Regardless of what you use, the stuff has to work in XP for the surfers.

PM me if you want me to take a quick look.

Dighost sent me this URL

I am trying to do it, but I can not import the damn file into reedit. keeps telling me it can not be imported since it is not a registry file.

Any ideas on that issue?

Ok, I know what it is, or at least what is part of it.

Norton Anti Spam has an ad blocker. I turned it off, rebooted and got some of the problems to work.

Now this is where it stops making sense, not that it ever has so far.

In the free area, the flash still will not work, but in the members area it will, but not on the index unless you go to another page and then back to the index page.

Out of 11 pages of thumbnails I have 4 that will work.

I have been adding my site to the "allowed" list for ads and such, but they really don't tell you what you should do, "just ads html code here"

Holy cow this is a pain.

I learned this one the hard way
The program I use to transfer photos from my cammera to the computer throws a blank space in every friggin .jpg file. works for most with the blank spaces but not all.

Torn, try removing your shoes, from not only your feet, but from the house.
I don't know if it will help your computer situation, but everyone else in the house will be able to work a lot better with things gone.

Your welcome.
