Cigarette smoke contains a number of toxic chemicals and irritants. People with allergies may be more sensitive to cigarette smoke than other people, and research studies indicate that smoking may aggravate allergies.

Smoking does not just harm smokers but also those around them. Research has shown that children and spouses of smokers tend to have more respiratory infections and asthma than those of non-smokers. In addition, exposure to secondhand smoke can increase the risk of complications such as sinusitis and bronchitis.

Common symptoms of smoke irritation are burning or watery eyes, nasal congestion, coughing, hoarseness and shortness-of-breath.

Secondhand smoke is a mixture of the smoke given off by the burning end of a cigarette, pipe, or cigar, and the smoke exhaled from the lungs of smokers. This mixture contains more than 4,000 substances, more than 40 of which are known to cause cancer in humans or animals, and many of which are strong irritants.

Exposure to secondhand smoke is called involuntary smoking, or passive smoking.

Secondhand smoke can cause lung cancer in nonsmokers

Secondhand smoke has been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a known cause of lung cancer in humans. Passive smoking is estimated by EPA to cause approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths in nonsmokers each year.

I don't like smoke, but I don't bitch at people who do smoke. It's up to them if they want to kill themself.

In my own privacy it happens that I fart. But if I have people over I would imagine that they would not enjoy me running around farting all day, so I don't. You show a little consideration for other people that come visit you.

I am allergic to smoke (and dust). My husband smoked and everytime it got near me I would go into major coughing fits and find it hard to get my breath. The dust thing is really bad for going on the London Underground. My friends nearly always think I am dying.

Anyway Mishi, I think you know that I'm the kind of guy who likes the negative attention of being ostracized. I tell everyone what I do. Well, except for the moms who wait for their kids to come out along side of me at school. They scare me.
