Domain Name
I want to get a domain but the name is taken, so if the name were say, "girls", should I get g-i-r-l-s or g_i_r_l_s or ????

That's a very bad idea. You're going to lose a lot of type-in traffic to the non-hyphenated domain.

I realize that but the letters of the word make an anacronym for a phrase I want to use What else can I do?

A "z" won't work for the acronym. If the word were "girls" that could be an acronmy for "Girls In Really Loose Skirts" "Girle In Really Lose Zkirts" just wouldn't work.
