Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button

why does webmasters think so highly about page-rank ?
I really dont understand it. Just looked at google. My site that gets alot of celeb traffic has a low page rank and is not listed in the top 50 on google. But on msn, your.com and 5-6 other SE's i'm on top 5 or 10. I get a huge amount of Se traffic but becouse I'm not a 5/10 or 6/10 i'm probl. not worth trading with. I think I am, but My main SE's are just not google, does that mean I'm not wirth trading with ?
When I trade links I trade not page-ranks but I look at the quality of that site. Isnt that the way it shouldt be ?

well about 80% of traffic comes from google or google driven SEs. my most profitable site listed in SEs gets 90% of traffic from google (and ones that use it). with that numbers in mind I know google is currently the name of the game. PR helps if all the other aspects on SEO are in place, but if PR is all you have then it means nothing. you don't need to be PR5 or PR6 to get link trades. you can get them even with PR3 just fine. have in mind that nowdays getting PR bigger than PR2 is easy.
I'll tell you how to start in case you don't have noticeable PR yet: - get listed on sites that will list you without the need of linking back. someone can do you a favor. you can trade that link for money or other things with webmasters. you can always trade stuff with other business people. you might have something they need and you need 1 link. you must try getting listed on DMOZ. read their rules carefully because they changed it not too long ago. when at both try getting listed on site with PR4 or 5 with little links on that pages. That will sure shoot you to PR3 (or PR4) with the next google crawl. - now you need more links and with that PR you can link with other sites of that PR. soone you will have PR4 and you continue the game till you get to PR5. now you are there where you want to be now, having that PR5. |

All the way from Room 101

Yesterday I got 11 hits from a number 1 placement on Altavista.
Yesterday I got 68 hits from a number 7 placement on Google. Same search term. |

If you don’t take a chance the Angels won’t dance

Most of my pages are getting an average of 300-700 hits per day on all the major SE's and some of the more modest ones. Google is #3 after AltaVista and Yahoo (main Yahoo not the web results) so I do not pay attention to page rank.

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

The only good thing about a high page rank is that Google will send their spider a little more frequently to a higher PR page, and dig a little deeper on the links on those pages...good for getting new content in the index faster...but thats about it
