Because thumb preview TGPs generally have significant more traffic than a text-based TGP, they do manage to get surfers that are lucky enough to have a gallery on the first click.

I don't understand it either, there are better and easier ways to get sales rather than jerking surfers around. Treat others like you want to be treated, is my business model (I hardly ever used CJ-based sites, and leave all my sites and sponsor sites console-free).

I think you are confusing two different beasts here

circlejerks do indeed have no or verry little content and are used primarily as traffic pumps - you will generally see 2-3 prominent sponsor links on circle jerk sites - as a surfer you either click the sponsor link or you click on anythign else and get traded for a fresh surfer

thumb tgp sites are just tgps which display a thumb as a preview to a gallery.

hope this helps

well thats the nature of traffic trading - some do it & some dont - personally I dont

I see what you are saying about clicking on thumbs and not gettin a gallery - I guess the surfer just accepts that they aint gonna get a gallery everytime and they keep clicking until they do.

the theory with 'circle jerks' is that the surfer gets no free content and they simply have to click on the sponsor link or get jerked to hell

A lot of the thumb sites out there use sponsor galleries to make their money.

Well, obviously MadThumbs would, he was one of the original thumb TGPs.

His traffic is gold, and isn't crappy recycled traffic.

...don't forget there's a good number of Thumb TGPs who list nothing but sponsor hosted galleries, and another group who mostly list their own galleries (on different URLs to give the impression of variety).
Thumb TGPs without advertising (being banners, text links, or hosted/own galleries) are rare!

Then there are a few who are making most of their money from paid listings, hence skim less to trades.

MadThumbs still skims/trades, but he sends more to galleries than others.

There are a lot of trash TGPs out there with extreme skims (less than 50% to galleries).

Thinking that the big skim TGPs don't make any money is silly. Sites like http://www.8teenporn.com/ and http://www.spermshack.com/ make a lot.

Example:
90k daily Teen/Babe TGP with good production % sends 175k-180k to galleries, the rest to trades.

You could send all that to Free Hosted Galleries or your own galleries.

Average 5% click-thru ratio from galleries to sponsor tour (total 9k to sponsor)

Average 1:500 ratio for TGP traffic.

Equals 18 sales per day.
18 sales x $15 RevShare = $270/day
$270 x 30 = $8k/month

Not including hosting costs ($200/month for 1.2TByte), one-time cost of TGP script ($300) and traffic trading script ($600)

Either build that TGP yourself or hire a pro to do it for you:
http://www.damagex.com/pricing.html

He is more than capable to build you a TGP/MGP to 200k in 2 weeks:

I have a small thumb tgp, That I love
and I see the url in my sposor stats all the time

when I started it for around 6 months I did a test,

I took some sponsors that I never premoted before and only used their hosted gallerys on the thumbnail tgp

and 60 to 70 dollar checks were coming in sometimes a 100 dollar one

my script sorts the gallerys by sponsors and it has a good eighty sponsors in it
but most of those sposors I use On Tommys but judging by the test on 5 or so sponsors

It made money

That's only in theory though.

Another thing, if you want good prod, your thumbs should be in high-quality. If you can muster a 90k thumb TGP with only 1.2Tbytes, you must either have really poor-quality thumbs, or really small thumbs.

Bandwidth is dirt cheap, e.g. ThePlanet: Dual Xeon, 1GB RAM, 2TB for $200/month or 3TB for $500

And yes, very high quality thumbs is a must! Especially for teen/babe TGPs. A 90k TGP will take up 4hours of maintenance every day, mainly tweaking the trades.

And regarding the skimming/redirection, before I quit my Uni course I asked a few friends what they felt about it, and the reply was "great, even more porn!".

Of course everyone would rather have a nonskim TGP like thehun, videopost, shemp or worldsex as the traffic is more valuable, but its impossible to start one now and reach that size within a few months or year no matter how much effort you put in. It'll take 6+ years of slow growth to reach there. By that time this industry would be totally different. And don't expect any SE traffic to help growing it, Google is putting every single new domain in the sandbox for 3-12months and even after that, it won't treat the domain as it does with others registered pre-2004 (meaning it won't rank you in the top 20 in the SERPs).
