News WITHOUT a spin

We all know how hard it is to get decent information about current and important events that doesn't dribble out of the mouth of some lobbyist. Surfing around the other day I came across this site:

An interesting, homespun, slightly populist view of the news with a lot of accurate background info on most stories that only get a small blurb in the mainstream press. Seems like a groundlevel effort. Maybe you like it maybe you don't. Do you have a good source of news and info that IS NOT mainstream and you feel is fairly accurate most of the time? How 'bout posting it here?
