Using CSS in freesites / galleries
Hi there,
This is my first post so be nice to me ![]() Basically im just wondering if designing galleries and freesites in CSS will in any way hinder my chances when submitting? I know there are 101 rules to each different TGP or LL, but is using CSS frowned upon in any way? Do sites prefer things simpler? Any help / opinions appreciated! Thanks SecretEden ![]() |

What sort of complications are you talking about??
Given that HTML standards beyond 4.01 transitional rely on CSS (doing away with <font etc.), I don't see how any site could have a problem with it. I certainly don't. But until someone figures out ways to cheat etc. using CSS, there won't be rules against it. I do however decline sites using any types of filter: (like drop shadow etc.) as that's activeX and IE only. I have my browser set to prompt on any ActiveX and just delete/ban those sites out of hand since I'm not going to check the source to see if they have installs and stuff on the page. I'd like to know if any sites decline submissions where the CSS is included from a seperate file though as that helps clean up the source for SEs. |

Probably over 1/2 of the LL use "style on their recips, so I can't see much of a problem there.
On the other hand, a lot of TGPs ban "style" because it can apparently be used to install trojans somehow. |

Just be sure to preview your sites in multiple browsers. I use Mozilla as my primary browser, and some sites that use CSS for page layout are really fucked up in Mozilla and FireFox.

banning "style" is a stupid move though. I think "url" (or something like that) would be what you'd want to ban. |

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

I'm a big a fan of CSS and always use it where possible but, I gave it up for designing freesites because it just was quicker using some table based templates and modifying each slightly. I never had any problem subbing sites that were using CSS.

cheers all.
I can see advantages of using it for very quick changes to gallery layouts (colours, positions of images etc) but maybe it is just quicker using plain old tables. Thanks all for your feedback ![]() |

I love tables because they rendor the same on all browsers and that's not the case when using CSS. However, while my content goes in a table most formatting is done using CSS. That goes for everything I create these days.
You shouldn't have any issues. |
