Skimming on TGP's

Shoudl TGP's skim traffic only to other TGP's?

Or is it ok to skim to sites that are trading with your site?

i.e. if I have a site that has toplists and galleries, is it ok to skim the galleries and have the sites that are on the toplist on the galleries?

not sure how you tgp guys do it but from a surfer point of view looks like they only skim to other tgps

Pretty much only TGPs skim so they tend to trade with other TGPs, but trade with whoever will trade with you.

Do whatever you want. The reason for skimming to other TGPs is to get some traffic back in return.

IMO skimming is reason TGP traffic performs so poorly. Problem is - this is how 90% tgps trade traffic.

Yeah skimming = crappy traffic. It's a fact.
It's so unfortunate that this is the way that most TGP's send traffic nowadays. And it really forces new webmasters to do the same if you want to build your site traffic up. Everyone wants instant big number traffic and no one wants to work for it to make sure it's quality traffic anymore.

I have always prided myself at sending quality traffic and now mostly what I get in return is crappy traffic that is super low in productivity. (most under 10%)

Within the last year 100's of these TGP sites popped up out of nowhere and are all of a sudden are on the top list of every large, old school TGP out there. We spent years building up quality sites with quality traffic, only to have these sites take it away within a year.

I feel that these types of sites are to blame for surfers being afraid to click on links and to trust sites. Hurting the business for everyone.

I agree with ya big time DrB its like monkey see monkey do with some tgps and in the end the surfer gives up and there goes a customer for sure.

I just opened a couple of TGPs without skimming and let me tell you I'm going to have to be patient because it's gonna be a year or two to build traffic.

Like DrBizzaro said with so many TGPs out there now you almost need to skim (or feed it from a site you already have) to get any decent traffic numbers. One thing you can do is lower the skim bit by bit until it's finally gone maybe as bookmarkers build up.
