Question about google index

i been looking at link list metas tags and reading about them and most of the big lists dont have the robots index there category pages any main reason?

the only one i can think of is that google doesnt what 40 pages listed for one site is that it? or theres other reasons

Please help because i will be uploading pages and dont want to fuck up

Many, if not most Search ignore alot of meta tags these days due to tag-spamming...

That being said properly-done meta tags are a vital part of any page.

Robots tag is a valid tag even for google.. If you want a page not spidered or not indexed, then Google bot "should" obey that tag.

I am not Google... but I believe Google wants to spider as many pages as it can.. it then judges the value of those pages before listing them and giving them rank.

Many sites have 1000's of pages in Google, but only a few of the main pages may be well ranked..

Looing at the backlinks to GGandJ -
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ndjim%2Ecom%2F

Only 143 are listed of the 160 that link.. eg : Google has deemed some of them to be "not worthy"

from looking at your meta tags You dont have any robot tags on your category pages except your title tag but on your index you have content=all and content=follow that is the same thing as index and follow right ?

plus i read that the description tag is not even read anymore but it dont hurt to put it on

you see and read so many diffenent things that it is hard to tell what is best

As most or all of my pages are linked to or from pages linked to the index page.. the index tag is enough...

the follow,all tag tells Google(and other bots that obey..) to follow ALL links and spider what they find.

putting them in all pages would be a little superfluous IMO
