Question google vs overture #'s difference any1 know??

anyone know what is the google to overture ratio when figuring out hits per month relative to keyphrase?? i.e. if you use the overture keyword tool and overture gets 1,000 a month for "whatever" what does google get 10,000 - 100,000 a million?? is there a general calculation available?? i am sure it flexuates somewhat depending on keyphrase but am pretty sure it is basically the same. very curious if u know the answer. also, is there any google keyword tools around yet?? i have never heard or found one.

thanx

BM any "ratio" would just be a guess.. it is best to just use it as a guide.

There is no google keyword tool(with numbers) that I know of..

The old rule for the overture tool was 10 to 1, but I would say it's now closer to 15 to 1, and sometimes 20 to 1.

However, like any rule of thumb, it varies.

If you open a Google AdWords account ($5 min.) then make up a fake ad and add keywords they have a tool that will tell you how much traffic to expect for the bid you have on the keyword - pretty useful in a general way - but often very understated. Just dont make the ad "live" and you can go back and check an combo of keywords you are interested in.

Wordtracker provides search number data for google, as well as other engines. I've never found it to be that accurate, but it's still usefull for comparative purposes. Do you target "amateur sex" or "amateur porn", that kind of stuff.

PPC engines have a vested interest in screwing around with the search numbers, but as long as they do it across the board ("hey guys, the payment on my Ferrari is due, double the search numbers for a month"), then they're still somewhat usefull.

No solid data.

A lot of this depends on how many words you are dealing with. A single word search will see a bigger difference between Overture & Google. A multiple word phrase will see a smaller difference between the two.

But how many surfers are going to check out the number 1 listing and how many are going to visit other sites in the top ten?

Overture is a good guide to how people use engines, but each month is gonna be different also.

hmmmm

The biggest part of that is the fact that Overture is a PPC engine and are you looking at free search results at google or PPC?

Surfers wouldn't know the difference between a ppc engine from a free engine, apart from perhaps the results having a "sponsored" next to them.

But word tracker etc track free search results... if you are looking for what makes the list then you have to let me know where you want to look.

Well you can predetermine how much placement you get with Overture... just max your bid and let it run on an open credit card
