How to insert your blog feed into a html page
So, one of the things I didn't know was how to insert my blog feed into a normal html page. I kept getting bogged down in jargon and frustrated.
But today I discovered how to do it. Now this page http://www.msnaughty.com/index.htm has 3 headlines and snippets from my latest posts at the very top, and it's just an ordinary html page. What you do is: 1. Go to feedburner.com. Sign up and add your blog feed to your account. 2. Go to "My Feeds" and click on the link to your feed 3. There are tabs there that say "Analyse" "Optimise" etc. Click on the one that says "Publicize" 4. Click on the link that says "Buzzboost". Feedburner will then create a snippet of code that you can insert into your html page. That page will also let you customise it and say how many headlines you want to display etc. 5. Insert code into your html page 6. Add the following styles to your stylesheet: date, feedTitle, headline and set them to whatever font, color you want so it suits your page. Bingo, you now have a little feed on a non-blog page! Hopefully I can now use this to insert the headlines from my Quirky Sex blog into the sidebar of my Ms Naughty blog. It's so simple I feel a bit silly for not working it out earlier, but then again, what the hell is a "Buzzboost"? When I first went into Feedburner I didn't find it to be very intuitive. They just seemed to want to sell me stats software. So I hope this post helps somebody out.

Ooh, now there's a challenge for me. I've downloaded it, will see what I can do.
Once again, thanks Walrus. Edit: Does this script only handle one feed, or can you use it to handle several feeds? Or is something that handles several feeds an "aggregator"? And I must admit, that word scares me because I still don't really know what it is LOL. Is an aggregator a script?

It only handles one feed at a time but you can simply copy and rename as many times as you need. I use it to add sponsor feeds to pages on XXX Blog Maniac. I believe that anything that would read a RSS feed or feeds and output to html would be considered an aggregator...which is nothing more than a specific name for a script. |

So is there an aggregator script that you recommend? I see that RSS2html offers a script like that for $30 or so.
What I am thinking of is something like the feed headlines that appear on this page: http://www.sex-kitten.net/home.html

For something like that I'd usually suggest WordPress with the FeedWordPress plug-in but since WP2.1.X I've been hearing more complaints about duplicate postings from that specific plug-in.
Although, since adult feeds seem to differ a bit from a standard feed it probably is very dependent on the feed. This is another type of WP aggregator plug-in but I haven't tried it yet so i can't say how well it might work Some non-WP solutions might be Gregarius or FeedCMS I've played around with both a little bit. Gregarius seemd like a pretty good script but since I wanted something that would allow people to submit their RSS feed, rather than having to add them myself, I decided not to use it. FeedCMS seemed like a very good script but immature in it's development. But it might do what your looking for. |

Hey Grandma
Thought I would chime in on this one. Have you looked at Carp I have used it in the past on mainstream sites. It will handle multiple feeds. Another way of using multiple feeds is with ajax. I have a yahoo news type display here. See Sample here.
