Whats the trick to promoting....VOD or Cams

Im interested in pushing VOD sites like AEBN or any of the other good - great VOD sites. As well as webcam sites..like webcams.com. Obviously this would be for a long haul project not overnight cash..and I said trick in the thread for lack of a better word. But is it best served as a stand alone with links to the "freebies" they offer, like minutes, downloads, movie of the day, free chat etc?

Im not asking for your master plan just a insight or direction to go.

I dont promote camsites.
But I can tell you that with AEBN I use a mix of free minutes and the FHG's.

The key with AEBN is that you want that customer to sign up for you because they are yours for life. No expiring cookie to worry about!

Getting that customer signed up under you is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING for you to be concerned with - at least as a first step.

Those customers eventually buy in most cases.
Why?
Because they get exactly what they paid for and if they dont think so they have a customer service rep at a 1800 number 24 hours / 7 Days a week to handle any problem they might have.

The FHGs are in the mix kind of for the same reason. I want to get that customer signed up under me and if they happen to spend a little money on the experience then I know they will continue.

That is a couple of ways I use to make money.
You have a dedicated rep assigned to you when you sign up and they are much better at heping you out to make money than I am.

I like to refer to AEBN as my retirement fund.

Good choice, i want to get my AEBN account up and running again on a movie blog, they've got some good exclusive videos i haven't seen anywhere else so i'm hoping there's an advantage to that.

They're support is good too as they'll help you in anyway they can.

I used AEBN on my link list for something like 4-5 months. Sent like 5-6k hits and had something like 43 sign ups, I made a whooping 3.43. Needless to say I took them off. I was getting the sign ups, but nobody was spending any money.

I might be wrong here but maybe it's more to do with targeting, i know with dating that using general traffic is worthless but when it's targeted right it works fairly well

Hey Jester - To be honest, I've been in the live chat industry for a long time now, and in my experience it's better to go with just pushing REALLY hot girls, with custom written amateur profiles with "my favorite music" etc rather than just linking straight to free chat. For lots of traffic, the mystery of what it's like to chat with a cam girl is what converts best. We offer stuff for just about every method though, but that's my opinion.

I do OK with AEBN, slowly growing, mostly by promoting the free minutes.

But I do far better with cams. Iframes are absolutely the best way to promote them, mixed with text links emphasizing that it's free to join. If a surfer hits the page and finds a hottie who turns his crank, he will join, especially if it's free, then I get paid. I like that concept
I get better conversions from cams than anything else I do, and they pay well.
That said I've never had luck with revshare on cams, just PPS, and almost all of my revenue outside of cams is revshare.

SG..I can see where cams and vod would be better put into place with the rev-share option. I mean the whole concept is for the viewer to keep coming back to his favorite type of flick, or his favorite "girl". What I like is the customer for life side of that equation. I think, and this is just me, if you hit the right traffic, the right "time and place" one could do very well month in and month out with cam traffic. We shall see.

Revshare is definately the way to go with a significant volume of traffic with any cam site.. We have an open-ended billing solution implemented, so after a pre-authorization, customers can spend as long as they want without getting cut off by a pre-purchased block of credit. Also, you can toggle between revshare & PPS by changing a single digit variable in the linking code, so you can easily test and maximize your income.

I've had good luck with the webcams on AdultWebmasterEmpire. The live video banners are awesome. Signup here (my affiliate link) and choose 'promo tools', click rev-share (because webcams hold people like crazy), and then choose 'live feeds' or I-frame.

The ability to show LIVE video of a real person/couple is very effective.

Webcams.com is good too - didn't mean to bash the previous post just giving everyone some options.

Isn't PPS a better option when marketing the free join?

I am working for a UK-based VOD site. (probably the biggest in UK/Europe). We dont do pay-per-minute as we know that most
affiliates get annoyed with sending traffic and getting nothing in return.

If you want to make some money, especially with the current exchange rate, you should sign up with us. Will be worth it as we are billing in British Pound at premium-rates. (starting about 10$ a movie and then going up up up ) We are paying our affiliates 30% - for life!

Re Cams - my first job involved a set up and management of a live-cam portal. Back then - we are talking 7 years - it was THE thing to do, but that died down quickly. - Well it did over here in Europe - The market is completeley overrun. Not much money to be made in there anymore.

VOD is defo the way to go!

Honestly, if you want to make good money send me your traffic - especially if its european and you dont know what else to do with it

the trick is, make a seo page (not spam) and link it with your own high pr sites ( on different hosts)

yes - most of them do! Can be a good thing but I'd recomment VOD. Will make you more money in the long run I think.

For me promoting cams -- revshare has always been *far far* better than PPS. My sites are all text heavy review sites targetted at the serious webcam viewer so I get plenty of "whales". And one guy might spend $10,000 on a girl in one month - and I get 35%... nice.

Doesn't take many of those to add up to some nice income.

Well, hony, I think Whales of that magnitude are few and far between. Id be happy with a cozy dolphin 30 times a month..month in month out.

They are not that rare really -- and when they appear it makes everything else seem pointless. I just ran some numbers as an example -- in a given period for one of my sponsors where I can see the user names. The whale during that period spent $19K while in the same period *all other users added together* came to $15K.

Personally I don't understand it -- where do these guys get the money? Are they on company expenses or does Bill Gates have a webcam habit or something???
