If you are comparing Dreamweaver to WordPress, I'd have to say WordPress.
Wordpress will handle your sponsors' RSS feeds, allow you to easily link with your neighbors, and have them link back, manage trackbacks and pingbacks and does a pretty good job at making an interface that is easy for you to update from the web, your iphone or whatever. I don't think wordpress itself has any more edge than the rest, but, there are things that wordpress does which help you behind the scenes. When you create new articles it automatically pings other sites to let them know you made an update. When you put urls in your articles, it'll create a trackbacks to let the other site know you linked -- and in some cases, that remote site will link back to you. There's a lot more to it than this, but, using some sort of blog software will definitely make your life easier. Useless Warrior discovered a wordpress alternative recently and seemed quite happy with it, but, I don't recall the name of it. There are quite a few experts in here and I'm sure most will recommend some form of blogging software. There's a lot more to it than just posting articles, but, it'll definitely get you started in the right direction.

Building a blog out of html pages would be a massive undertaking that a blogging script automates for you. The ones CD34 mentioned are some of the important issues to help you expand your blog but just the inter-linking that goes on within a blog would be mind boggling.
You've got a post page which displays a predetermined number of posts on a single page. As you add a new post, it automatically is put on the top of the page and the previous entries are moved down. It creates linking for categories, tags and a number of other ways surfers may want to find like articles on your blog. Plus it creates a single post page with a comments section so people can comment on your posts (if all your doing is posting porn sales text this isn't that big a deal as you get almost no real comments). Linking everything together. Wordpress isn't the only script and I wouldn't say it is necessarily the best but it does have a large following especially in the adult community which means you can usually get help without worrying about posting adult links in a mainstream forum. |

I've just recently started by adult blog, but i"ve got several other blogs for other industry type affiliate programs and I can say without a doubt, wordpress is by superior to the other blog software that generates html or php pages. I'm talking about typepad or moveabletype whatever it's called from sixapart: http://www.movabletype.org/ This blog software actually generates html pages or php if you so designate. The issue with this software is that is regenerates EVERY page every time you update, so if you were to have 10000 entries and each one has it's own page, during generation, your server or something is going to time out. I'd hope they've fixed this by now because I haven't used it in some time because of this. The other con was that it costs me like $129 for an unlimited license where wordpress is free. WPs huge following it really going to help you out which is free and there's tons of plugins for just about everything you've ever wanted...I know this thread isn't a comparison about the two, but you mentioned html pages and moveabletype is a blog script that will generate html pages. I'd stay database driven, it's better performance. Just my 2 1/2 cents.

if you are going to create a blog and you dont know much about html and php then word press blog is for you but if you are a total complete webmaster with technical knowledge i still suggest you use html or static webpage for better indexing and search engine bot loves static webpages rather than dynamic web pages.
