Using Links Organizer as a link list script
Does anyone uses it for that purpose instead of hard links trade?
I am tackling the idea personally especially for taking submissions on my model directory site. A category would be a alphabet letter (from a to z). A site would be a particular model's page. The script is easy to install and use, templates are easy to make, all links are hard links so there's some PR juice that could be juiced, and of course, there's the link checker that could be used to check for reciprocal links. What do you think of the idea? |

Not a bad idea, really. You would be somewhat limited in what you could display, it seems, but you could require users to include in the description if the site contained pics, movies, etc.

The only con that I could have think of for me would be that there is no type of site selection but as you said, I could request that it is included in the description. Otherwise, it seems to be a good alternative way to go especially since scripts like Dragon Links or X-Power Links doesn't seem to be updated or supported anymore, though I may be wrong. |

But LO is a hell of a script, and could be made to work I think, if you just want a simple listing. I use it for hard link trades, and it's solid as a rock, and easy to set up and use. I know what you mean about Dragon and some of the others not being updated. Dragon works well for me, but I'm not sure what the future holds as far as updates and such. There are some newer scripts which are popular now, though...JMB comes to mind. |

As to other link list scripts, I had sent an e-mail to the owner of Dragon and I was told that there were no updates being worked on and it won't be worked anytime soon although support is still present. So considering the latest version is back from 2006, I had passed on. I wanted to use LinkX from JMB but unfortunately, it is a dynamic script. I already have the pages done by TGPX so that would be impossible and reversing the scripts would be a hassle. |

Let's just say that I feel better knowing that whatever script is still being updated!

Updated with what? We could simply tell you that it's being updated if it would make you feel better. I don't understand how using a link trade script is more sensible than using a script which was developed intentionally for link lists, updates or not. Stable is good -- unless there are certain features you are interested in that aren't currently there.

Sounds like mine... I wish I had a newer script with options such as submitter accounts...

New features are just secondary unless the feature in question could be of some great use in whatever I do. |
